I'm astonished that ruslan chagaev doesn't get more raves from the posters on here. He is clearly #2 in the world. He is the only russian that has the closest thing to american style fighting. He has great power, is fast and has a tysonesque bob and weave get underneath to land power shots attack mode that would trouble any heavy on earth. His win over Valuev can't be denied. For those who have never seen chagaev fight. Go to youtube and watch a few clips. He is the complete package. He is the only heavy that has a chance against klit. As far as the new kid haye goes. Ruslan would knock him out. I'd bet my house on it. Anyway, there's no other heavy on earth that beats ruslan aside from a healthy vitali and wlad!
yes in most cases the number 1 fighter can fight the number 3 fighter for the ring magazine championship.
Chagaev is trash. The Skelton fight proved it. The guy is as average as they come. Slow hands, average workrate, no knockout power.. I was rooting for him against Valuev, but that's only because of my hate for Valuev. To call Chagaev's head movement and fighting style "Tyson-esque" is laughable. Wladimir KO's him in under 6.. Haye could beat Chagaev if he fought him today.
wlad is the champ til he gets beat. end of story. guys like chagaev and peter will avoid him at all costs.
Your another one who's never seen chagaev fight. Listen bro-man stick to commenting on the espn2 level fighters you do see and stop commenting on those you've never seen fight. Slow hands and no power? Geeeezz!!
Dude, at this point Haye hasn't beaten a single heavyweight. Before you make outlandish statements like that, lets see Haye stand and trade with Brewster, Brock, Peter, Byrd, McCline, Mercer, Ibragimov and some other top ten fighters.
Chagaev has been disappointing as of late, but he was clearly #2 to me after his win over Valuev. Whatever illness he had that cancelled the Ibragimov fight must have taken a lot out of him, judging by the Skelton fight and the fact he wanted another easy optional defense against Karsniqi. At least the title situation is somewhat clearer now, with the top 3 boxers holding world titles and all of them likely to be active as of now.
:rofl Ummmmmmm... Peter is calling Wlad out... he did it last night and will do so every week now. It is the ONLY fight that matters and everyone knows it. "Avoid him"... Call Samuel Peter slow... call him plodding... call him wahtever... ya know what?... the man backs down to NOBODY and will fight ANYBODY ANYTIME.
I think Samuel Peter us unduely criticized and underrated. He just took a world title by knocking the living crap out of the man holding it, which was more than what Wlad did to Ibragimov. He has but one defeat on his record and that's a decision to the one guy eveyone is calling champ, and Peter managed to drop him in that fight. He calls out Wlad last night and even said that everyone else is going down. Sure, he's slow and not the prettiest physical specimen, but give the man some credit.
It doesn'r really matter who you people calls the champ at heavy weight rightnow . . . the sad fact is the division lacks sterling performers and it sucks. And all these old fighters hanging on to their nuts and old timers making their comebacks is not helping it a bit.
peter "knocked the crap" out of oleg by continuously hitting him in the back of the head at virtually every opportunity he got. need glasses..
