What I mean by the thread title:

Imagine that a fighter (a) wins the first 7 rounds of a fight. He isn't landing anything heavy. Most of his punches are taken on the gloves. But he has a good work rate, and the other guy is doing next to nothing in those rounds.

But then fighter (b) wins the last 5 rounds of the fight. He lands a lot of hard clean shots for every round of the last 5. (But never deserves a 10-8.) Fighter (a), by the end of the fight, is bleeding, bruised, and appears very worn-down.

Fighter (a) deserves to win the fight on points. But the impression you would quite possibly get, is that fighter (b) beat the crap out of fighter (a).

So is that just the nature of boxing? You need to make sure you are edging rounds?

Or should boxing switch to e.g. using half point rounds? 10-9.5?

    So assume by:

"But then fighter (b) wins the last 5 rounds of the fight. He lands a lot of hard clean shots for every round of the last 5."

That fighter (a) isn't landing hard shots or much of anything in the last 5 rounds.
