Well that explains why i like Grant better. I have long slender hands. Good looking out.

Mine were brand new so they weren't broken in when I used them (it was at the Ringside tournament); and I've seen guys at the Gloves in 2008 get scratched to hell over the course of the tournament with the closures the Grant amateur gloves have.

I'm a Grant guy. Reyes is the only other brand I would spend my money on...

Well, the design statement was based on general consensus from a lot of other people I know who've tried both. I don't know if either company would admit that.

The grant superbag gloves have long been my favorite pair ever. they come real snug, didn't have to wear hand wraps.

I didn't like the training gloves at first. There's a little space between my knuckles & the padding so they require handwraps. I wasn't wearing hand wraps a lot of times because I was switching off with mitt work. Couldn't wear those gloves more than a round or two without hand wraps, so I didn't really use them at first.

Right before I accidentally destroyed a bunch of my gloves, I was finally getting some use out of the training gloves and they were right up there with the super bag gloves. They made awesome sounds on the mitts. In sparring they had enough pop to keep people honest, but not so much that i was busting people up. They were nice on the bags. They even made a nice muay thai glove because of the flexible palm.

Both types of grants require some break in time as the padding comes a little bit hard. as you break it in it actually expands a little bit & becomes softer.

With reyes, i just couldn't make a comfortable fist.
The ringside ones have a nasty seem at the base of the thumb that's way tight compared to the rest of the glove. they also have a divot in the padding near the index & middle knuckles, which always felt weird to me. The hand pocket was always huge like a hangar bay so i never knew where to grip. I know other people who complain that the pocket's too short for their fingers too. The 14s fit okay, but nobody wanted to spar me with them & the odd angles inside the glove made heavybag work unbearable.

Over the past few years i've tried out tons of gloves:
Windy, Twins, King, Shevlin custom, Top Ten, Ringside IMF, Ringside Ultimate Classic, Title, Title Gel, Tufwear, Boon, Reyes
and the only gloves i really really miss right now are my Grants.

I'm probably going to buy another pair soon to replace the ones that i lost back in April.

As a replacement, I've been trying to use Kings, 2 pair of Shevlins, Title bag gloves, and Ringside Ultimate Classic Super bag gloves (rotating every workout) but they're really just not cutting it.

The King leather's almost like rubber, so the glove will actually deform when you hit a hard bag. The thumbs on the Shevlins just hurt - didn't improve by cutting the thumb attachment either, plus they're old school gloves so the fill's more like a pillow (not shaped). Title bag gloves are okay, but the dye tends to turn my hands red. The Ultimate Classics are pretty good, just a minor complaint about the thumb.

looking at $178+ to replace the grant training gloves; let alone the super bag gloves.... ouch...

Kings are my favorite of the muay thai stuff, but i wish they had better leather - i don't think their's is real leather, it's really gummy/rubbery.

Not all stuff is better when done in leather, however.
Most of the best heavybags I've used haven't been real leather.

Just found out replacing my Grants is going to be harder than I thought - backordered till September!! :(
