In your view, was Saturday a top 10 win and performance of a 39+ year old fighter of all time?

    Hopkins vs Pavlik
    Hopkins vs Taver
    Foreman vs Moorer
    Marquez KO Pac
    Hopkins TKO Hoya
    Hopkins vs Pascal 2
    Pac TKO Matthysse
    Pac UD Thurman
    Wlad UD Jennings
    Golovkin TKO Murata
    Moore vs Durelle

Where do you view Arturs performance, historically, for a 39+ year old?

Two things to rate and consider, the quality of his opponent, and the quality of his performance.

    Top 10? Or not quite.

One of the best ever. You hardly ever see a fighter 39 plus beat an elite fighter in their prime. It's hard enough for guys under 35 to do it, let alone at 39. It's probably why Bivol was the Vegas favorite. It's just nearly impossible for a guy that old to beat a guy of Bivol's quality.

I'm not sure, but I'd personally include Hopkins-Pascal 2 over Hopkins-DLH. And I would definitely include Moore-Durelle 1 somewhere, too.

What about as a performance itself, outside of the result.

Not very impressive, he ran after Bivol speedbagging his gloves for 12 rounds. Showed zero creativity, tried nothing new, was unable to adjust and force the openings that weren't presenting themselves to him.

My personal 39 or older performance was Vitali whooping briggs. He made him pay real good for all that **** talk.

That was a serious ass whooping.

    Holmes vs Mercer
    Vitali vs Adamek
    Duran vs Castro 2
    Malinga vs Benn 2

    All deserve a mention.

As for Beterbiev regarding the achievement it ranks high but with the added context of how controversial it is I wouldn't personally have it in my top 10.

He’s the best ever, hardest hitter ever. His barely (or not) beating Bivol in a fight that was seen as 50/50 is definitely the best win an older guy has ever scored in the history of boxing.

Definitely a better win than B-Hop being a legit old man beating world champions, or Foreman, or Marquez stopping top tier p4p ATG Pacquiao for the first time in decades…

I think everyone is forgetting Luis Ortiz's very important win over Achilles around the 13th century BC.

They say that Paris shot an arrow guided by the Gods to destroy Achilles ankle but what really happened was Ortiz, then a seasoned veteran soldier in the Trojan army, threw a devastating left hand that shattered Achilles ankles and the rest was history.
