Former WBC super flyweight world champion superstar in Thailand for the boxing world Wisaksil Wangek "Srisaket Sor Rungvisai", at 37 years old Wangek seems to be only a shadow of himself. One of his very recent fights (October 28, 2023) against another 32-year-old Thai Anan Pongkhet who has a record of 1 victory for 3 defeats. The latter ended up giving up in the 3rd rounds due to a dislocated shoulder. Wisaksil Wangek appears as a shadow of his former self. He also wishes to return as an amateur to perhaps take part in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games or, failing that, take part in the South-East Asian Olympic Games Sea Games 2025 which will take place between Bangkokg- Chonburi-Songkhla 3 large Thai cities (including the capital). I feel like the fight against Jesse “Bam” Rodriguez left a huge mark on Wangek. One of his last fight in 28 October 2023 in Thailand : This content is protected
He really should retire if he invested the money he earned soundly but like many other past champs he will probably fight on until he loses to nobodies His life story is one of the many inspiring stories in Boxing This content is protected From eating out of garbage to the top of the world & getting to meet the Thai PM twice thanks to Boxing
Totally agree, there are worse things I would talk about another Thai boxer who has a string of defeats when he was a monster. We could also have talked about Rex Tso, the Hong Kong boxing star who has suffered only defeats since his amateur return when he should have been a professional world champion. I think that in boxing you have to know how to stop at the right time.
He’s a 35 year old 50 plus fight veteran super fly-offcourse he is in decline. That said, stay in front of him and you will be introuble. He had 5 knockover jobs this past year-at least he is tuned-up for hopefully a big fight in 2024. Had a look again at Chocolatito-SSR 1-such a great contest.
TBH I thought Rungvisai looked a bit past it in the 2nd Estrada fight, he was unusually flat for the first half of the fight and fought Orthodox for alot of the fight ? It was a very strange performance. But a pity hes ended up like he has he was the best fighter in the world in his weightclass for a good 2 year period.
