Brendan has always reminded me of Frank O'Sullivan. Frank taught way more than Boxing. He taught manners, respect for yourself and others and discipline. At Birmingham City it was more important to be a good guy than a good Boxer. Until the current situation took hold, Frank at 82 years young was still in the gym 6 days a week. For what he has done for thousands of kids he should have a Knighthood rather than his MBE.
Loved watching MAB become Hameds daddy, and humble him, when he rammed his head into the turnbuckle was a moment of beauty
He still is. But you get all of the louts (and Kugan Cassius with his cringe worthy fanboyism) hailing him a legend and a "lad" on YouTube etc.
If you have to keep '''the youth'' in boxing gyms to stop them being street thugs/criminals, then you have a problem with breed quality that won't be fixed by sport and mentors.
I don’t believe he would have won world titles to super middleweight though he is now a super heavyweight
Also if it’s true he stopped training then that’s on him. The greats SRR, Ali, Mayweather etc kept training and honing their craft
He got in touch with Ingle a few year ago to bury the hatchet, probably realised how stupid he was, Ingle wasn’t interested “no thanks naz”....I wonder if he seen him when he was ill towards the end
You've just heard it from the horse's mouth ffs, Ingle wouldn't lie, when he won the title he refused to train properly, Manny Steward thought his camp for Barrera was pathetic also, both on vid...Facts are there and he wouldn't be the first either
