He is greater and better. Tyson could dream of accomplish things Ali did.

 

Better means he'd beat Tyson, which he wouldn't do. I agree about the accomplishments.

 

Unlike Tyson, Ali actually beat fighters on Tyson level. Ali would beat him and he crushes him in terms of accomplishments.

 

Ali was better than Frazier but Frazier beat him first time. He was better than Norton - Kenny beat him.

SRR was better than La Motta, but La Motta beat him.

Louis was better than Schmelling but Max beat him.

Lewis was better than Rahman and McCall but they beat him.

Roy was better than Tarver and Tarver beat him.

and on and on and on

Better doesn't necessarily mean that you beat a fighter - better might simply be that the sum of your skillset and intangiables leads you to achieve greater success/a higher level of greatness.

 

I think it's once more a matter of Iron Mike's inflexibility. He really only had one approach, and the whole-constantly-going-forward thing was too easy for the 60s Ali to foil. Even though Mike had a pretty damn good defense for a guy always coming forward, he would have run into shot after shot.

No he would not. Frazier made Alimiss a lot and Tyson had even better defense.
