What's your definition of "prime"? To me prime is the period when you are capable of beating the best fighters and you possess most of your abilities. The highest point of your career is peak, not prime. Ali definitely was in his prime against Foreman.

Hey the way these post read, Roy Jones Jr walks on clouds, he helped Moses part the Red Sea, not to compare him to the Almighty but it sure seems like it. Oh no, Antonio Tarver did nothing to him, that was just our imagination. Jones losing to Tarver reminds me of Tokyo on Feb 11 1990, he too was not prepared, that's why Tarver won.

That's not what prime is. Mayweather was not in his prime when he beat Pacquiao. Foreman was not in his prime when he beat Moorer.

Vitali Klitschko. . He was hardly better than Tony Tunker or Joe Bunger . He was more committed , fought in a much weaker era and hand picked his opponents , but he was a step bellow them skill and talent wise. . Yet a lot of people claim him to be a great from a H2H sense

True, but Pac wasn't in his prime either it was a matchup between two past prime, but still world level fighters.
Outside of circumstances, this is not some kind of ATG win. Moorer was far from all-time great HW, he just was on the right place in the right time.

I have seen people say Mike Tyson would beat him in his prime and lots at that, that is delusional and is also underrating Lewis

    NoNeck (SMH...)...

You have been on here for years. You should know both that in general some argue that FOTC Ali was prime for Frazier, & some have argued it here.
They are wrong, but some ignore or minimize him being rusty, & say that Ali was stronger, hit harder/committed more to his punches, & could take more punishment.
If they said say post Manilla Ali, you might be right-but even then if they have such an unusual position then it may be more likely they just lack basic knowledge than that they are effectively peddling a completely implausible lie.

Try to shed the modern disease of assuming ill will or dishonesty, instead of understanding & tolerating that many believe things you do not.

Which is it, he was "hardly better" than this Tunker (sic) guy or Bugner, or was clearly worse than them?

I think you are wrong either way, but it would be an interesting thread to start.

Bugner and Tuckers boxed with better skill than Vitali. Their footwork was better , they had more tools and threw punches with better technique.

Dude accused another poster of being intellectually dishonest. We could get into absurd territory if I start bringing up small minority opinions like Ali being prime for Frazier.

OK, but I am saying that there is no cause to believe that *he* is intellectually dishonest.
Again Ali was not prime for FOTC-but it is not a vanishingly rare opinion.
More often folks say '72-'74 when his timing & conditioning & experience had improved.

But we both agree that it was not enough to compensate for the virtues of youth ~ '66/'67: significantly diminished foot speed & the endurance to do 15 rounds of dancing.
