Larry Holmes...totally overrated here. 20 defenses against bums, seven and a half years of holding a title he won in a disputed contest. Knocked down by losers. Every heavyweight champ since would have beaten him in their prime.

Nobody denies their achievements. I meant they are overrated H2H.

    I don’t think they are.
I think plenty people favour other fighters over them, it’s certainly not unanimous.

I agree on Foster being underrated.

    Holmes
    McCallum (it's turning tho)
    Pryor (also turning or turned)
    Vitali
    Tua
    Mugabi
    Witherspoon
    Dempsey
    Tunney (at heavyweight)

    I'll think or more.

Guys like Tyson, Marciano, Frazier and so many others have just as many dumping on them as championing them so it sorta balances out.

Pre 70s boxers for my money. Every sports improved, every measurable sport improved, chess has vastly improved - the chess computer tells us this. Yet some people think boxers haven't

That would be for named for the (massive) underrated ones...

I forgot Saul Alvarez, Ruben Olivares, Terence Crawford, Erol Spencer, possible Ricky Hatton, Miguel Angel Cotto, Jose Luís Castillo, Fred Apostoli, Ken Overlin, Tony Zale, Alan Minter, Matthew Saad Muhammad, Randy Turpin and maybe Sergey Kowalev.

Thanks! There were some names I first had not on mind (a little bit later), especially in Middleweight and of the current (pound for pound) stars, probably also Dillan Whyte (in the past Samuel Peter, Jeff Lacy, Andre Berto and Francisco Bojado).

Well he might be now rather underestimated (similar as Hide and Mesi).

I don't know. I hope a bit, but probably have some a deeper knowledge (particular of the early age of boxing). But I'm open to learn.

Is one of the most underrated of course (in opposite to his brother, who have to be some places behind him, due to his inferior record); should be in anyones top 20.

But I possibly forgot to list David Haye, Lamon Brewster and Sultan Ibraghimow.
