Not the Douglas I was watching. That Douglas would have been a handful for almost any fighter. Someone mentioned that Tyson was invincible at the time, yet had gone the distance with a couple of times, so he wasn't as invincible as what we were led to believe.

That said, I'm a little older than Tyson, and I certainly recall the hype around his fights and while not in the same league as Ali-Foreman or Ali-Frazier (thrilla in Manila) the whole world (or at least North America) basically stood in front of a tv when he fought. I never predicted Douglas beating Tyson, but I did predict Holyfield would, when they first fought.

Lewis V Rahman was a shock - but only within boxing circles , Tyson V Douglas was front page news around the world .

The stage was kinda set for an upset when Lewis was blowing off training to appear in Oceans 11 and then coming in looking soft on fight night .

But the Douglas KO of Tyson was off the richter scale - boxing was still a huge deal back then and the heavyweight champ was a global superstar in Tyson - the back drop to the story could be made into a TV mini series - what with Tysons problems with Robin Givens , Don King luring him away from Jacobs and Cayton , Rooney sacked - then Douglas' mom dies 3 weeks before fight night - you couldnt have made the script up , some bookies had it a 40/1 long shot coming down to 35/1 on fight night - crazy, crazy fight .

It would have to be something as unlikely as Paulie malinaggi blasting out Pac on the undercard of Clottey schooling Floyd for 12 rounds to be anywhere near that dramatic an upset.

I personally think the Foreman loss to Ali was at least on the same level as Tyson's loss. At the time, there were a number of people that truly felt Foreman would permanently injure Ali, especially the way he walked through Frazier prior to this fight.

If this is translated into today, I don't think this kind of upset is possible. For starters it can really only happen in the heavyweight division.

Less than that and fighters will move up or down but usually only if they, or their opponent, really excel at their own particular weight, and the Klitschko's aren't really dominating to the point that an upset would surprise all that many, and even if it did happen it would be hard for it to be any bigger than Wlad's loss to Corrie Sanders.

Probably Lewis' loss to Rahman has been the biggest upset since Tyson's loss, but he avenged his, something Tyson never did.

Jones vs Tarver 2 was a big one but even that was less of a shock than Tyson vs Douglas since we've all seen flash ko's before. Tyson vs Douglas wasn't luck or a fluke (not to discredit Tarver's win). Maybe if Holyfield outboxed Wlad and then Ko'd him late. Or if Jermain Taylor came back to dominate Bute then Ward.

Morales KO 8 Pacquiao in Pac-Morales 4. But that would be after Pac knocks out Marquez, Berto, Mayweather in 2, and Jason Statham at an unrelated wrap-up party for Pacquiao's self-written/ Directed biopic on himself.

    :rofl:rofl:rofl

Douglas can come into the ring with a gun and he'd still get KOED.

No-one believes Douglas can beat Tyson.

    Tyson KOES Douglas.

    Fact.
