He's not the best "american HW" right now... No way in hell. http://boxrec.com/ratings.php?sex=m&division=Heavyweight&pageID=2
Everyone with half a brain knows boxrec rankings are ******ed. That being said, probably only Chambers and Aerrola deserved to be ranked higher, and i'm not even sure if Aerrole beats Huggy Bear
:rofl Several reasons motivate fight promoters to accept certain matchups...If Ruiz litteraly had "zero" fans. Haye's popularity alone..wouldn't be enough to boost the ratings....it's a combo of both.
Ruiz isn't even top 5 heavyweight in my mind, he just happened to not fight the top guys like Lennox or the Klitchkos.
Who's to say that it will be enough to boost the ratings? THis is a mandatory defense (why I have no idea), which obviously means that Haye has to take it.
He refused to fight Byrd as well. And I think the reason was patently clear--they're both boring fighters that didn't have a chance in hell against him.
Of course he isn't a top 5 heavyweight. When Haye fought Valuev, he (Valuev) was ranked 7th by Ring. And Ruiz lost to him twice! Really, I'd be hard pressed to find a spot in the top ten for Ruiz. :huh
Ruiz doesn't really have fans, meaning he won't draw by himself. Yet he is a "name".. there is a difference. Clottey is the same way, he won't draw **** by himself, but as an opponent he's intriguing. Ruiz with Haye draws more interest than say Haye vs tomato can.
