I wouldn't go as far to say he would be HW Champ. But he could've gotten DQ'd for pushing down on the back of the neck excessively. :verysad

    More Void and Wilder fans..................

Should Ward have been disqualified for headbutting Kessler from across the ring? It was an illegal headbutt, but Ward's referee said nothing. Vlad was fighting in Povetkin's venue. Ward only fights in his hometown with his personal referee and judges...........

I agree. Everybody knew Wlad was going to clinch and use his strength to smother Povetkin inside, yet Povetkin never developed a workable strategy to negate Wlad's tactics.

You can't just rely on the referee to help you because history suggests that he won't. Had Mills Lane been in there, he would have disqualified Wlad within 6 rounds like he did with Akinwande against Lewis, but referees now seem to allow this breach of the rules.

Povetkin cut off the ring effectively and he landed more than I thought he would despite the difference in height and reach. But once inside he could do very little. He came in squared up and so it was easy for Wlad to smother him. He should have done what Mayweather did to Hatton late in their fight. Come in side on, drive the shoulder into his opponents chest, which allowed him to use his forearm and elbow to lever Hatton off him and create space to work inside.

Agreed, it looked more like a World Wrestling Championship match than a boxing match. Elbows to the face in front of the ref and no warning and its called a knockdown.

H should have been dq'ed. I can;t say povetkin would have won, but it seems more likely. Frannkly I don't understand why povetkin never moved his head to the side while throwing a wide punch to the body. With all that constant clinching he'd be bound to eventually hit either liver or solr plexus and knock him out with a body shot.

How many times was John Ruiz disqualified? Answer? ZERO. Only one referee wouldn't let him hold and that was in the circus fight against Glass Jaw Roy Jones in a 'fight' that wasn't really a fight there was such little action.
