in 75 ali fought wepner, lyle, bugner and frazier. one atg, AND he had just come from beating an undefeated george foreman, 40-0, end of 74. now which current fighter do you want the direct comparison with?

Perhaps, but unlike you, I'm not a pretentious dick. Which is perhaps, illogical, but satisfying to state.

Joyce may have been hyped but for 15 total fights he was fighting tough competition. Which is all I can ask for. His resume after 15 fights is about as good as wilder’s is after 40 plus fights. For a bronze medalist Wilder was fighting a 6-6 guy in his 16th fight for comparison.

The Joyce cult is clearly still operational.
People here actually believe Joyce wasn't highly protected and was fighting great competition.
Parker was his first top opponent and Parker was on the slide.
Joyce was what 36/7 at that point?
Dubious was a prospect who'd beaten nobody.
The rest were the typical bunch of old names turned journeymen that all these hyped names run through to 'build their brand'.
Joyce is hands down the most protected fighter in recent years, especially from 'The West'.

    Shut up you simpleton.

If you’re not trolling, you don’t even deserve to be a fan.

yeah, but the key differences are frequency and broadcast of fights...

if Fury was offering a speculative chance to a new [or not so new] unheralded fighter every 1-3 months, and the fight was shown free to air, per Ali, people would forgive almost any standard of opposition.

waiting 6+ months, and being expected to pay top dollar, for bouts against the same, not so much.

oh, but on topic - definitely Zhang. there might even be a half-hearted attempt to resurrect Valuev's old 'beast from the east' nickname.

The 18 year idiot who was on the undercard saying he will be heavyweight champion at a younger age than Mike Tyson, he looked nothing like Tyson in his first few fights.

I still can't believe there are people out there that believe this.

Usyk has one opponent that will give him serious problems and that's Fury. If they were both 6'3", Usyk would beat him going away.

To knock Usyk out, you have to hit him more than once, and very few people have been able to do that.

Wilder can knockout anyone not named Fury with one punch.

Either Zhang himself or Jared Anderson if he knocks out a few more fringe guys.

Better hope he catches Usyk, cause till he does he`ll be getting made to look like a deer on roller skates.
