I think it comes down to who's more damaged goods. I don't think Margaritos punch resistance is what it once was, we'll see. One thing I do think is that once Margarito has your number, he has it. This fight could end both of their careers, should be a war, but it would be hard to exceed the first one.
if cotto could box intelligently within 12 full rounds he could beat margo. in their first meeting cotto did beautifully in the first half only to succumb to margo's pressure.
I don't think it's "punch resistance" is what will bother margo... orbital bone was broken and seems to given him a bit of cross-eyedness. Vision might play a part
There is a lot of doubt in my mind when it comes to pulling this off, I hope he does though, if he fails he should retire.
Im a huge fan of cotto but since Steward trained him hes lost what made him the fighter he was. Hopefully with this bout he will go back to basics but Margarito isnt the same since the mosely fight and especially after the Pacquiao bout. Its a fight you just cant call because niether fighter is as good as they were and no one knows what form they will be in come fight night. Im only watching just out of the curiosity to see what either fighter has left ala Erik Morales
Well it seems that Cotto is looking for big paydays because he is looking to retire in the near future, so pac 2 at 150 could be a option allthough im not interested in it at all. I think canelo 154, martinez 157/154, or fighting the number 2 ring guy which currently is angulo would be a good option if he beats kirkland.
Hmmm, a pac rematch would be more like a repeat IMO Canelo would be good! Who would you fancy to win that one? :bbb
i sure hope cotto wins and gets some revenge, but i think its gonna be a tough fight, wouldnt be surprised if margarito pulled out a win
I think cotto wins and since canelo is still very young it might be a good legacy investment win like nelson was for sanchez for example or arguello for marcel.
I think it depends on how badly he beats canelo, if it is brutal i do not think it does him any favours, if it is a close decision then yeah
i'm thinking the same thing.i want cotto to win but cheato is all wrong for him in the way foreman was wrong for frazier just in a smaller weight class.
Margo's un-plastered hands are waaay to slow to do any real damage. Cotto should walk all over him. - and I hope he makes it slow, long, & painful.
I really would love for this to happen it would redeem Cotto and make boxing for me at least palatable again, as lately I have been losing love for the sport. The bull**** BHop vs Dawson and May vs Ortiz affairs have turned me off to the point Im falling out of interest, throw in May vs Pac not happening and how can you not be disillusioned with boxing today.
The man is only 30 years old. After the punishment he has been through nobody could blame him for retiring. But there are still some big fights out there for Cotto should he win here. Canelo, Martinez, and Mayweather come to mind.
