Its going to be one of those cases where we do get the fight, but it is too late for the result to be of much concequence.

Of course Floyd cares about his legacy.

    He is a boxing nerd.

He says that **** for a reaction, so people start moaning and talking about him.

He doesn't give a **** for his legacy, or rather he knows how to manufacture it so that it looks like he's achieved a lot.

Arum simply did not like the fact that Mayweather left him to be a free agent. He didn't want his 'Golden Boy' Pacquiao to take the lower half of the pie. I still thought Mayweather would outbox Pacquiao, but it would have it's moments.

Why would Pacquiao have to take the lower half?

Neither fighter wanted it as 1 megafight earns less than more non mega less risky fights

Well he was offered 50-50 initially but he was the challenger and the lesser draw

It's not about Pacquaio as he gets fleeced by Arum anyway, it's about Arum wanting control of the card, event and wanting to cut both fighters 30% while keeping the rest as his fee

Top Rank didn't want to work with GBP/Mayweather. Even when GBP offered to bring in a neutral party to sit down and work out a fair split for everyone Arum ignored calls from GBP and went ahead with the Bradley fight.

A lot of it was down to ego and by then Mayweather felt he gave enough to sport whereby he shouldn't need to have people dictating to him who and when he should fight. His legacy had been built in his eyes and understandably so. He felt he deserved to carve out his own route. He looked at Pacquiao in the same way he looked at Cotto and Maragrito when he retired for the first time. People wanted him to lose and he didn't want to give them the satisfaction in it possibly happening by continuing to take on risky opponents. One of the biggest tragedies with Mayweather during that period was that it seemed like he didn't have faith or courage in his god given talents that the fans did. If he was to fight any of them it had to be on his terms where the risk would be justified by a huge payout.

The ironic thing is Arum has lost out on having 2 mega fights and seen his cash cows crash and burn, with Gamboa-Juanma and Mayweather-Pac

I think he tried to turn Bradley into his new cash cow after seeing Pacquaio lose in Marquez 3 by giving Bradley the decision. Unfortunately for him Bradley really lost and is pretty boring.

Still he has 2 biggish fights in Marquez-Bradley and Pacquaio-Rios and can match up the winners.

He lost out on Delahoya/Mayweather too  Why do you think Arum holds such a grudge?

Mayweather ducked Pacquiao like he did prime Cotto (he might have still narrowly win this 1) , Margachito (justifiably only in a hindsight) , Paul Williams and de past their prime but still 2 much 4 him Vernon Forrest and Kostya Tszyu .

The fight didn't happen because of Bob Arum.

De La Hoya said himself that it wasn't Floyd's fault, they wanted the fight.

Pac and Floyd is still going to happen.

If Pac beats Rios, the fight is on, IMO, he doesn't have to rematch Bradley or Marquez, he just has to steamroll Rios.
