At heavyweight? IMO yes. Out of all, I don't think anybody would have a problem with him being ranked as the GOAT but there's some other guys in contention for this.
Yes and no. He was arguably the greatest heavyweight boxer of all time, but in terms of pound for pound ability and accomplishments he'd have to take back seat to Sugar Ray Robinson, Harry Greb, Sam Langford, Henry Armstrong, Ezzard Charles, Archie Moore, Roberto Duran, Benny Leonard, Mickey Walker, and Willie Pep. But in terms of pound for pound ability he's up there too, which is really amazing for a heavyweight. What made him great was his commitment to taking the hardest fights available, to proving his greatness, his high skill level, his great speaking skills and colorful persona, as well as his dedication to things outside of the ring like civil rights and religion.
I was saying some guys cut so much weight they out weigh their opponents by a big margin, more than a weight class eg srl vs duran or floyd vs jmm /pacman. Just because they are the same weight class eg welterweights it doesnt mean they are better p4p and the wins mean less because of size descrepancy. When you have guys within the same weight class outweighing other guys in their class by 10+ lbs it should diminish the win but in reality that never happens so p4p is bs
I want to make an apology for all who were offended at my harsh criticism towards Mr. Ali I always stand behind my opinion, however in this matter I was very wrong. R. I. P. Mr. Ali !!!
