Why have more fighters not sought out his training and guidance, especially heavyweights? I mean, EVERY other trainer that has had great success with a fighter, reaps the benefits of that by being the "in demand" trainer yet seemingly no fighter gave Rooney a shot. Is he considered a "one trick pony" in the boxing community? Anyone have any info on this??
good question but i think i know the answer after watching a lanky middleweight he was training trying to fight like tyson by bobbing and weaving i soon realized he is a one trick pony! PerthKronk!
He probably felt boxing was a disgrace, how Tyson left him after being with him for so god damn long.. why would he invest his time and money in a fighter ever again? I know Jameel McCline went up and saw Rooney back in the day and Rooney totally dismissed him and said he was pretty much garbage.
I saw Rooney a couple of years back training this good looking young heavyweight prospect. The kid fought in that classic peak-a-boo side to side head movement style and blasted away his opponent in about a round or two. He looked prety damn good and showed a little bit of power as well. Kind of reminded me of a poor man's version of Tyson, but with some obvious physical talent. Don't know what the **** has happened to Rooney or his prospect since??? Too bad I can't remember the fighter's name. :huh
ive wondered this myself.. he seems like a guy who really understands the mechanics of boxing and on top of that he seems like the type of guy that would be a real hard ass with his fighters.. a real drill seargant.. obviously i dont know the guy but i reckon hed be great to work with..
