With so many overhyped "stars " who do you think has a shot to be the next face of boxing?

At points it was Mayweather or Pac. Seems like now it's a toss up. Who in your opinion has the chance to best the next big thing. Popularity box office wise, skill wise and a great overall record.

    Canelo.

Only someone of a nationality that has a huge and strong community in the US can become a big star in boxing.
The only elite boxer who would have millions of fans behind him would be Canelo, plus all the fans in his homecountry.

AJ will also become a star but only in the UK.

The right choice would seem to be Canelo, but his weak opposition throws me off. The one guy who could have been that next PPV star was Broner but he's way past the point and potential and he's only decent.

Well in the USA white America will only cheer fighters who aren't black and there are so many Hispanic and Latino's living off the USA now that the only fighter here they can be a star are Hispanic and Latino fighters.

It depends whether we're talking about Europe or USA.

Klitschko was the face of boxing in Europe even during the Mayweather era. Mayweather was never a household name in Europe and only hardcore boxing fans watched his fights due to time difference. Mayweather vs. Pacquiao got the hype but that was pretty much it. Klitschko on the other hand was watched by everyone all over Europe for over a decade.

So when we talk about Europe Anthony Joshua will definitely become the face of boxing if he beats Klitschko, there's no question about it. Probably even if he loses and comes back strong in the next fights. He's already popular among casual sport fans plus you have all those bodybuilders in the gyms talking about him and his physique and athleticism. People who have never followed boxing told me they watched videos of Joshua's fights, highlights and training. He looks like an intimidating guy and a fighter while boxers fighting lower than LHW don't. He's also well spoken and comes across as a pro athlete and generally likeable, he's the kind of character that Europeans like to see in an athlete.

In the USA, who knows, probably Canelo and GGG when they fight each other if there will be a lot of hype and mainstream media attention. I don't really see anyone else getting much popularity in the USA, Ward is boring, Americans generally aren't interested in Eastern Euros and Wilder doesn't want to step up in competition. Maybe someone like Crawford gets some hype behind him.

It should be only the elite of the elite

    GGG
    Spence
    Aj
Those are the absolute best of the best.
    ATM
Canelo is the biggest star and the only true superstar, deservedly so, elite already deep cv. Dudes a beast .

Those 4 fighters will carry the torch with a bunch of other legit fighters lIke charlos, DW and kovalev levels.

Those are not quite with the above 3 but still elite with potential, too many others too list. ATM boxing is deeper with elite talent than at ANY OTHER era

Skill wise it's Loma but he's to small to make any dent in boxing you need to be 140+ to become a real star I think a fight between GGG and canelo would decide who the main man in boxing is now

To be a Superstar you need talent and personality. That is lacking in today's pool of fighters.

Lots of talent, absolutely no personality. GGG, Kovalev, Lomachencko, Smith Jr. The Charlo bros, Andrade, Garcia, Spence, Crawford....

Lots of personality, lack of talent and/or discipline. Broner, Saunders, Fury, Khan, Patel, Eubanks Jr, Martin...

Thurman is the one guy that has both but he is too busy being a goddamn hippie to take advantage.

We need a polarizing figure in boxing. I love a humble athlete as much as the next guy, but a guy who's a cocky son of a ***** and is talented at the same time, could bring in ratings. Like if GGG had the mouth of an Adrien Broner for example.

If GGG had the mouth of A.B. he would be Conor McGregor.

I think that Joshua is clearly the future face of boxing, Spence, Lomachenko and some prospects are there.
    I like Charlo too.

It will be between Wilder and AJ if they both keep winning.
