I'm not sure where you are coming from.

I have zero problem with Mugabi getting a shot. He'd beaten some fringe guys mostly impressively and built up some nice hype and story.

We were on slightly different pages looking back. Even if he got ko'd by Hagler in 45 seconds i would still have no problem with him getting a shot.

Hearns at 154 would be tough for Mike. Mike was tough, but he was tactician regardless. And so was Hearns.

Besides Marvin, what fight did John really show he could beast Mike? And I do think Mike is being a bit overrated here now. About Mugabi? He gave Hagler a good fight when Marvin was off for a year and rusty, then Duane Thomas stopped John in a rather odd thumbing I think the Dec of the same year for the 154 pound title. Then the Norris fight. As for Mike. .. He was a top fighter, but the Kalambay fight happened when he was still relatively prime. But Mike beats up John Mugabi after some tough early rounds. Maybe 8th round knockout.

Ok, that clears things up. I thought u were saying that Mugabi didn't deserve it. What exactly were u trying 2 say?

My mistake for not clarifying. I meant that I always wonder how Mugabi would fare against Hearns. I'm pretty sure the Body Snatcher would beat the Beast.

I thought you were trying to say he was Hagler's toughest fight etc

Well, that is true that I think he was, although it's a tough pick, but that was not my main point however. Who do u think was Hagler's toughest opponent? Hearns? Leonard? Duran? Hart, Antuofermo, and Roldan all get underrated for their strong performances against the Marvelous One as well.

It's a multi faceted question. Monroe obviously gave him his toughest fight as he beat him handily but it was a learning Hagler. Leonard was obviously a difficult opponent at the tail. Duran fought well but didn't/couldn't go all out to win as Hagler was too strong. He hung in there looking for counter rights and chances to enhance Hagler's cut.

I think the most dangerous fighter he fought was Hearns. Tommy was riding one helluva high.

As most others have said, Leonard is the one who would have a good chance of beating Mike. He'd certainly take an early lead. The question is how strong MIke would come on towards the end.
