It definitely played into his going in distracted ... he came in ten pounds heavier than when he previously fought Smith but he also weighed the same five months earlier when , also very upset with King(s) screwing with is money and training camp expenses for the Brunio fight, in the UK and in many ways a top signature win despite his flabby appearance. I think Tim makes the point he came into the ring mind fu-ked and not prepared ...that said no doubt Crusher went balls to the wall , caught him very fast and that was that ... he caught him so fast Tim had n time to throw it and if he was throwing it why keep getting up from the knockdowns ?

He didn't throw the fight the right hand that caught him at 2:13 into the round badly hurt Witherspoon and his legs totally went that's not acting that's a fighter genuinely stunned/hurt.

Witherspoon wasn't at his best he came in out of shape/unprepared and probably mentally his mind wasn't totally on the job with all the problems with Don King.

But Witherspoon had dominated Bonecrusher in their 1st fight landing over 300 punches in a totally one sided performance in which Witherspoon won 12-0 without losing a single round.

So whilst Bonecrusher was a totally different opponent stylistically to Tubbs who was the original opponent. Witherspoon had beaten Bonecrusher so easily in their 1st meeting, he probably didn't think he had to be 100 percent against a fighter he'd already beaten easily but he thought wrong.

All in all it wasn't the best version of Witherspoon obviously but it's still a legit win for Bonecrusher he jumped on an unprepared Witherspoon and never let him off the hook.

Tim was throwing some mean and rather desperate right hand counters against Bonecrusher up till the very end. Not exactly a blueprint for throwing a fight.

I think if more people would talk about the fact that Witherspoon scored a knockdown in that round (which was not acknowledged by the referee) we’d be talking about this fight as a barnburner exciting contest. You don’t try to drop a guy against whom you’re intending to throw the fight.

Yeah that's about it. As others have said he also threw a couple of hard shots himself.

Yeah, and great acting if you go out the three knockdown rule way with missing teeth instead of just staying down after the first knockdown.

I just watched the fight again. The HBO crew said there was actually not a 3 knockdown rule, and the referee was incorrect saying so. Does anyone know the correct answer??
