I personally think that Mike Weaver should be in the mix of this, and probably rates higher than a fair number of them. He did beat a good number of the better ranked heavyweights including John Tate, Gerrie Coetzee, James Tillis, Carl Williams, along with the controversial draw with Dokes and giving a lot of top guys fits.. The fact that his loss column is pretty heavy prevents him from being rated over say, a guy like Witherspoon, but I still pick him as being one of the best of that era.

I also think Tucker should be added, Smith too, but I wouldnt put him above Berbick. List is pretty close to mine though.

    1) Witherspoon
    2) Coetzee
    3) Dokes
    4) Thomas
    5) Page
    6) Berbick
    7) Tubbs.

As Natonic mentioned, Page would be at the top based on ability.

Most of us agree that Spoon was the best. Thomas was my favorite at the time...I was disappointed at how he turned out, because he was impressive for awhile, and not at all afraid to call out Larry Holmes, who didn't respond.
