Thomas vs Spoon was one very good and underrated fight. But if Tyson could not easy beat fading Thomas, there is not chance Wilder beating Thomas in good shape.
The last time I saw this match-up discussed - a couple of years ago, now - I suggested that Wilder hadn't beaten anyone on a par with Witherspoon... ...Wilder still hasn't done so. We've seen what can happen when someone with a bit about them has a go at Wilder - and Witherspoon has something about him. At the same time, from what I have seen and regardless of how gutsy Wilder has shown himself to be, his effectiveness falls through the floor, in the face of a skilled practitioner, who knows how to win. Wilder always has a chance with that right-hand, but it's not something one should have to rely entirely. Witherspoon W UD (wide) - with there being a good chance the Terrible Tim earns a late stoppage.
