This should be an intriguing Heavyweight fight of two prospects this Saturday. Neither guy is a world beater, but both are solid pros. The more I watch Arreola the more I like him. Aggressive fighter with good strength and workrate. He should be able to get through Witherspoon's distance boxing and to score a mid to late round k.o.
should be a solid fight. Witherspoon has some solid skills but appears to be timid at times and doesnt the punches that could end fights. I think Arreola will take this by late KO
IMO witherspoon is very very average. how is undefeated is due to judges and matchmaking. if arreola has any talent at all he will win , if inside depends on witherspoons chin. if witherspoon does win, IMO it will not be because he is going anywhere, just simply arreola is just as limited. my pick arreola points. withersppons chin seems ok even if i do not rate his abilty. slow jab/plodding feet/no power/slow handspeed/ everything is boxing by numbers with witherspoon, taught step by step out of a textbook with no rythem or natural abilty that i can see.
Is this right? Arreola/Tua would actually be a decent fight at this stage. Tua is faded enough that that could be a real war and not a blowout.
Arreola should stop Witherspoon during the mid-late rounds. Witherspoon won't be able to make it a boxing match and will just get dragged into fighting a war with someone who is much more prepared for a war. However, Arreola losing to anyone with a pulse wouldn't really shock me.
Arreola by mid-round TKO. Arreola has a decent workrate and doesn't slow down through the fight. He has the makings of being a 240 lb Juan Diaz. Witherspoon barely throws punches and tires out by the 6th. It wouldn't take Arreola to beat Witherspoon either (I suspect any decent gatekeeper with stamina and a decent workrate would beat him, say like Sherman Williams or Paolo Vidoz), but Witherspoon is the type of opponent who should be able to make Arreola look much better than he is.
Maybe I'm kidding myself, but I think Witherspoon has more to offer than many give him credit for. If he's able to get his jab going, keep Arreola at bay, he could win a decision here. If not, Areola probably stops him. There's no question he's the stronger fighter here. But is the smarter, more skilled fighter?
