Without laughing can anyone here honestly argue that Wlad would beat a prime Tyson?

He didn't go life and death with Peter. He won that fight comfortably, getting KDed by illegal shots to the back of the head and recovering to take an easy decision.

And he got caught early by monster punching southpaw Sanders. Wlad showed tremendous heart in trying to continue but Sanders fought extremely well and finished him. Wlad was caught early and stopped by a big puncher with fast hands and a southpaw to boot, that's no huge shame as a heavyweight.

Personally, I consider it worse to lose round after round and get dismantled piece by piece before getting KOed by Douglas. Wlad walked into a huge shot early and was stopped, same as Lewis against McCall. Tyson got taken to school.

An example? When the fight got to the 5th or 6th round and the other guy was content to survive, Tyson lost the fire and ended up just following the other guy around the ring, lowering his offensive output and just going through the motions to get the UD. He got discouraged. Look at Bonecrusher for the best example. This is why Tyson was never able to turn a fight around once it went bad on him (Botha excepted, one lucky punch) and why he had NO late KOs in his ENTIRE CAREER, with the exception of ATG Jose Ribalta.

Haggis, please watch the Peter fight again. Your a solid poster, I just don't agree with you here. Wlad was clinching Peter excessively, turning his back at certain points in the fight to avoid Peter's punches. Wlad looked scared as can be when Peter went on the attack. As far as Peter's rabbit punching, Wlad was using illegal tactics as well. Laying on Peter's back when he got the chance (Lewis trick), turning his back to his oppenent, clinching excessively.

It was a wild fight to say the least, a fight Wlad only won by 3 points. A fight that showed him almost getting knocked out in the 10th round, though with seconds left Peter was unable to hurt a shook up Wlad.

That's fine. You want to call that prime, then a 37-0, 24 year old, undisputed heavyweight champion Mike Tyson sure as **** counts as prime.

I don't remember Wlad ever getting brutalized for 10 straight rounds, being way behind on the cards, and then getting knocked the **** out.

Nope. Never happened. He doesn't have the chin to get brutalized for 10 rounds. He goes to sleep before then.

And if you think he won the Peter fight comfortably then you are really just stirring up **** than really debating the topic.

Jacory Harris, you are the most ******ed, biased and utterly pish poster on this site.

But on this rare occasion, I agree with you.

Tyson would be Wlad's Kryptonite. Prime Iron Mike KO's Wlad earlydoors 99 times out of 100 IMO.

It wasn't near to the best version of Wlad, but he won comfortably in the end. He was plainly very worried about getting sparked with one punch. Current Wlad is a far more confident and thus better fighter who manhandles that version of Peter and stops him.

I just hate nuthuggers saying this mythical Prime Tyson is UTTERLY INVINCIBLE, and the Klits are BUMS who can beat NOBODY in a fantasy matchup. Vitali especially, I enjoy pointing out that he dominates lower-grade opposition to an extent that NONE of the old-timers can match.

I think it's safe to say I rather get knocked out in 10 hard fought rounds, where I was able to floor my oppenent and nearly knock him out. Than say getting totally dominated and have my **** pushed back in 2 rounds, and expose a glass chin to the world. Something Wlad still hasn't lived down, and probably never will.

Sounds familiar, How would you describe Tyson then?

Tyson had phenonemal hand speed, more like a middleweight than heavy, huge puncher and could knock you out with either hand?

If a semi-retired, more focused on golf than boxing can knock out Wlad then im pretty sure a prime Tyson could do the same.

I will honestly say, Vitali does stand a pretty decent chance of beating a prime Tyson. He was one tough customer, that fears noone. Wlad just doesn't have that aura of invincibility like his brother does or did at one time. I agree Wlad has improved, but many of us still question his chin and wonder what will happen when it is tested again. I think it will shatter, but time will tell I suppose.

A Wlad who fights to survive the first 4, and then starts dropping the right hand and looking to win rounds on points, is bad news for Tyson.

I don't say Wlad WOULD FOR SURE survive the early going against Tyson. But several fighters nowhere near as good as Wlad managed to, even when they were scared shitless of him. And if Wlad sees the second half of the fight, he is right in there with a great chance to win. Lesser fighters than him dominated Tyson and won by KO, after all. Douglas brutalized Tyson, but was sparked with one punch by Holy. (He's the only notable opponent that Holy ever KOed with one punch, but Tyson couldn't put a dent in him)

Concur. Vitali has a much better shot to beat Tyson, maybe 3/10, prime for prime.

Wlad has virtually no shot. Just a terrible matchup for him.
