Without much speed or reactions, Jones is a pretty mediocre fighter

Hopkins is a great fighter, even badly faded.

Calzaghe is great fighter, with a Champion's heart!

Both are more intelligent that Jones, better ring generals, better tacticians, better at adapting, and both have greater hearts!

I disagree. It's pretty damn hard to be in there with Calzaghe and it's being shown time and time again, despite who he fights.

Jones Jr started well, hit that right hand but suddenly, he never lands it again except for an uppercut.

Kessler was the same, landed two big shots, then never found them again.

Hopkins landed three right hands early, then never found the shot again.

Lacy landed a good right hand and a left hook in the first round that didn't even hurt him, then didn't find it again.

It doesn't seem to matter what age you are or what condition you're in, this just seems to be the template for Calzaghe fights.

That's got little to do with it, buddy!:hi:

Let me tell you what shot means: less speed, poorer reactions, cannot pull the trigger, less activity, worse legs, less stamina. That is shot!

Shot doesn't have anything to do with poor ring-generalship, poor choice of shots, poor distance, poor adaptability, poor tactics, less heart!:deal

Calzaghe is a great fighter and will make anyone look bad, we all know that!

BUT...Hopkins showed he could dominate Calzaghe at times, he proved himself more intelligent, more adaptable, with the better tactics and ring-generalship, at times. That is the mark of a truly great fighter. Jones couldn't, and that has nothing to do with his condition. Without his huge speed and reactions advantage, he was nothing special. Sorry.

well, jones was a guy who relied on athletisism more then skill so a guy like that usually dosent last in this game. but the other issue for jones is mentally, he lost alot of confidence after the tarver ko and he always been reluctant in the ring. they didnt call him reluctant roy for nothin.

If a fighter's legs are gone it's much harder to be a ring general, especially when you once relied on them to maintain your distance, as you also pointed. Two ridiculous points, easily disproven.

His choice of shots was very good early on, as he was landing the flusher punches, and throughout the first half of the fight was landing at a high percentage. Another ridiculous point disproven.

It's hard to adapt without anything else to rely on aside from your handspeed and accuracy. What other fight is he going to fight? He was outdone by a far superior physical specimen at this stage, who also wouldn't have been nearly as effective without his physical tools. You just don't have a clue what you're talking about.

Less heart? You have got to be ****ing kidding me! He took a beating throughout the fight and stood up to it the entire way through, as an old man with little resistance. That performance was nothing but heart.

Yeah, true...he couldn't come back from adversity. He should retire.

This fight was an embarrassment - it should have never have happened. If I was a Calzaghe fan I certainly would not jubilate about it - it's an embarrassment. Jones won the first half the fight.
