Without PED would Evander Holyfield have been as successul in the heavyweight division as was?

Sangria doesn't realise that the more he slates Holyfield the more it makes Tyson look even poorer as a fighter. After all roided Holyfield still lost to Bowe and Moorer yet beat the living daylights out of roided Tyson. Mighty Mike would have had his ass handed to him by quite a lot of average fighters by the looks of things. Prison certainly saved him from a lot of ass kickings.

There is some crazy bias here.
I agree that Holyfield could not have been a great HW without PEDs. WIth them-& if you do not penalize him for using-he was great.
There is no indication that Tyson used anything but destructive recreational drugs. Anyone might be dirty, but no evidence + being big when very young & poor, + seeing how his background produced such instablity...Means there is no reason to claim he must have or likely used.

Holyfield deserves all credit for beating Tyson twice.
But while many thought he was already done then, it is only fair & logical to volunteer that his fanatic training & great strategy vs. Tyson SHOWED that he was not *nearly* washed up.

We don’t know for sure Tyson did use PEDs but by the same token we don’t know that he definitely was not artificially enhanced either.

Tyson’s background is well documented yet quite curious to me. His mother and brother both were medical professionals. He was adopted by people who funded him from a child to see to it that Tyson got the best of everything in order to succeed as a fighter.

It was certainly a very unusual moment in his career for Evander to turn the clock back wasn’t it? Watching Evander labour against Holmes and Moorer then lose hard by knockout to Bowe in a fight where Evander inexplicably stopped, actually stopped fighting, when Bowe rose from a knockdown and was helpless against the ropes.

I'm gonna start calling you the "Holyfield water slut"...whenever Holyfield needs some fluff, up pops the ever faithful Unforgiven to his rescue. I don't go to Holyfield threads to bash him, unlike you do with Tyson and Lewis. What are you afraid of? That Holyfield might get marked down for using steroids?

The only posters agreeing with your assessments on Tyson are the Tyson haters. What does that tell you? Bunch of ****in clowns with nothing better to do but hate on someone who raped their mommy. Dude, Tyson did enough damage to his career. So why so worried? Little babies like you are flourishing in this world of online garbage. Man up boy.

I view Holyfield’s prime years as the 1988-1993 version - ie unifying against DeLeon at Cruiserweight aged 26 through to regaining the Heavyweight crown against Bowe aged 31. After that the wars started taking their toll.

1994-1997 Holyfield had a second coming, yes he was bigger, stronger and just as brave but the hand and foot speed was diminished yet he still had enough about him to convincingly beat Mercer, Moorer and Tyson twice. Had he retired after beating Moorer his legacy would be so much stronger.

Instead 1998-2011 saw Holyfield on a 13 year downward slope to retirement yet he was still competitive at elite level against the likes of prime Lewis and Ruiz. He also fought better and was more convincing getting robbed against Valuev at the age of 46 than prime Haye.

People claiming PEDS are the only reason for Holyfields success choose to ignore his heart, ability, bravery, ring IQ and one of the best counter left hooks in the history of the division. It’s been said to death already but everyone was juiced during the 90’s.

Holyfield was on PED's, but the odds are many others were too. He's 1-4 vs. Bowe and Lewis, 1-1 vs. Moorer and 1-1-1 vs. Ruiz. His big win, of course, is over Mike Tyson in the mid-1990s.

It was a crack at people like you who hate Tyson. I think that was fairly obvious. Did he **** you or someone in your family? Am I coming across as a "deviant"? Dude you do nothing but whine and complain whenever fighters you don't like get positive assessments on this forum. Did you lose a bet on Mike? I just call it like I see it.

I think you're the one needing some help.

Yeah, Holyfield looked ripe for retirement because of a bad shoulder, err heart problems because of steroid use. Damn that Lee Haney, if only he were a boxer he'd be able to steer the steroid cheat to a smarter path of steroid use. Instead Holy bulked up so much against Bowe II that he couldn't quite sustain that level of roidmanship. But he was ready to retire because of "shoulder" problems and a tiny hole in his heart that Benny Hinn miraculously healed.

If I recall, Lennox Lewis was next in line but priced himself out of the $13 mill King offered him. So they went to Holyfield who would've produced more money at the box office anyways. Oh and Mike Tyson was superstitious as Holyfield was to fill the Pinklon Thomas role of mandatory fights in between title bouts, ala 1987.

    You're a fool.

If Tyson never went to prison for "raping" Desiree Washington, I'm sure Mike goes to prison for raping Holyfield in 1991 instead. Both Holy AND Foreman's careers would've been finished.

It was actually a fairly close fight going into the 10th. Both men were spent: Tyson because he wasn't ready for a herculean effort by Holyfield, and Holyfield because of all the juice he was on.

Still not done? Evander Holyfield* with asterisk is a steroid cheat. A man who gives honest Christian's a bad name because he was a liar and a cheat. Steroids aren't legal in boxing pud.
