Without Richard Shaefer Golden boy would be nothing.

I don't think some of you understand what the role of a CEO is bc if you did you would know that Shaefer has done an outstanding job. Numbers don't lie and as long as GBP are making profits and retaining young stars then there shouldn't be much of an issue from a business standpoint. Now if its a personal relationship falling apart well then Oscar better step up and fix it bc Shaefer did build the company.

 

sure he could have tried to leverage al to sign his fighers to contracts with GB....and then he runs a slight risk of al walking away and going out on his own...which if al was going to do nobody could stop him anyway...but i dont think al is trying to do that or even wants to

i think al,floyd, and richard have worked pretty well together...and i do believe there is some degree of loyalty....theyve got a pretty good thing....which is why i think if oscar were to try and can richard it would be bad the golden boy company

 

great team. they get things done. floyd at 170 million is pretty good business moves. by next year he will be at 260 million.

oh and an NBA franchise to boot. floyd wants 30-50% ownership. he won't settle for 5-10%.

there are only two real major promotional companies....and to be honest bobs company is kind of slowly withering away....its not easy to turn a profit in this business in america....you have the two top companies...and then the dibella types....golden boy is the top company in it right now...didnt happen by accident...schaefer isnt solely responsible but he is a major part of it....hes done well and to can him would be a big mistake IMO

i dont see any major problem with al in regards to his relationship with golden boy....maybe others do...i just cant

 

the way some of you talk about oscars face/name being a big influence on getting young fighters to his company...is the same way floyds face/name could work for them in the future....

 

Al needs a conspirator like schaefer. He can't manage and promote. So no there was no risk of al wslking away if dick tried leveraging him. As u said theres 2 real promotional companies. Where would al walk to?

 

Al Haymon built GBP....not Shaefer. GBP is popular because they know how to market and coddle young hype jobs and get them to the big time. The guy managing most of these fighters and carefully mapping out their careers is Haymon not Shaefer.
If Shaefer leaves Oscar he'll just jump into Haymons lap and get his greasy mop stroked by Haymons hand.

 

Al and dick are loop holing the Ali act. That's plain to see. So many act like they are so great for boxing and boxers. The Ali act was put in place to protect boxing and boxers from shifty promoters and managers. How can the 2 guys working so hard to circumvent the act be great for fighters?

schaefer was not a boxing promoter before joining golden boy...he was a successful banker...he was brought in to run the show

and make no mistake about it...if schaefer and al went out on their own...they would do very well...oscar better be careful

 

As a CEO if al refused to let his guys sign contracts with you would you not feel as tho he was trying to get the upper hand over you? How is it that if dick pushed for contracts he might create bad blood but by al refusing n demanding no contract he's not? It goes both ways n al has gotten the upper hand. So by your own logic, schaefer just layed down for al right? So as not to create "bad blood"? Doesn't seem like al gave a **** about creating bad blood. If dick is NOT conspiring with al then he just let al walk right over him and thereby failed as a CEO to do his job.

 

oscar wasnt a promoter either before forming golden boy, whats your point?
