Without Richard Shaefer Golden boy would be nothing.

IMO...there is no need to sign multi-fight deals with the fighters because the structure is already, basically, in place.....like you said...wheres al gonna go? TR? cant go to HBO.....the basic principle/structure of the relationship is already in place...and the contracts arent even neccessary....its basically an oral/handshake agreement to work together

but its just part of the game now...its unfortunate....but its just the way that it is now...im not a fan of any promoter/manager....but its part of the game you need to keep an eye on especially if you are a fan of boxing

im not some schaefer fan boy...i just look at the whole situation....and it cant be denied...schaefer has done a good job over there...and has built good relationships beneficial for his company

Promoters, golden boy included, have always done this.i think singling bob out is a bit biased. Do u really think al doesn't promise certain fights and paydays as signing incentives? And who does he go to to make those fights?

ok man...tell me...what are the drawbacks for golden boy promotions not having "every" al haymon fighter signed to an exclusive deal?

al haymon has like how many fighters he works with ? like in the 60s? 70s? do you think that golden boy can keep that many fighters under exclusive contract?

you seem to think al and schaefer have something going on and under wraps? what is it?

 

cool....i guess...technically.....but schaefer has been running things for like 14 years.....always working...while oscar globetrots, blows lines(props...but you gotta control that ****), checks into rehab, and shows up here and there when he wants....schaefer puts in work and handles the affairs...oscar is a face

i cant really see what oscars beef with schaefer would be...other than people are getting in oscars ear telling him his company isnt doing business the right way and is bad for the sport....and unfortunately hes listening...and most of those people are probably jealous

i dunno..its just my opinions...i dont see anything terribly wrong with how golden boy has been operated and is being operated....other than that bob sees his hold on the game crumbling

 

What is it? A partnership that allows al to circumvent the Ali act and schaefer to turn goldenboy into the biggest promotional company there is. Resulting in a monopoly and complete control of the sport for the most part. Resulting in **** loads of money the likes of which has never been seen by any one promoter or manager. Sorry but to think these 2 are a couple nice guys just havin fun n trying to help fighters and the sport is insanely naive.

 

so in this monopoly....how do you envision it going?

its it going to be a WWE style monopoly where the promotional company fixes fights, brands stars, and pushes who they want us to like on us?

or could it be a pool of the best fighers in the world fighting it out to see who really is best..with stacked cards and no ducking because of fear that it will ruin a big draw/earner?

 

And I never said every fighter. Fact is barely any of them have contracts. My point is that that is very very suspect. The drawbacks, from a shareholders pov is that al could just leverage the **** out them or leave altogether. Which, who cares...not me! My point is that dick n haymon are conspirators attempting to create a monopoly. And THAT is the fighters wurst nightmare.

 

Haha the wwe scenario is much more realistic. Competition between promo companies is the only thing that gives fighters any leverage whatsoever. Do u think al n dick want to be like Dana white n watch their profits dwindle year after year.

i do agree that competition is good for the fighters...but not always good for the fans as we know...and something that is good for the fans might not be good for the fighters....

either scenario comes with a bunch of "ifs" and "buts"

i stick behind my original point...i think schaefer has done a great job with that company

and i firmly believe that bob arums jealousy towards floyd has spurred his antics towards schaefer and golden boy.....the whole floyd/manny fiasco....the way he acted in regards to a donaire/mares fight....

its not because i want to hate bob arum...or i like floyd...its because bob has made me hate him.....the way i see things...hes just been miffed that floyd did things his own way....and he would rather not let his next star be beaten by his former star....you have to admit...at times he has spun utter nonsense at times....and when pac had 50/50 and floyd offered a 14 day cutoff they walked for dallas with no real intention of ever making it....if these guys had fought in 2010 i dont think anyone would have a reason to say anything bad about arum....and the two companies could have worked together

i just think over the course of time schaefer has had enough of bob...i feel he would have done business and wanted to(i know hes said that...but of course that means nothing)....but bob has pushed him away....and if in the end it means not working with him and burying his bobs company...so be it...treat people with sincerity and respect and im sure youll be treated the same
