Not much of a Witter fan, but the man won 21 fights in a row - I don't care against who, it's a tough feat in the sport of boxing to accomplish. I just don't understand why people are acting as though he's finished because he, for heaven sakes, LOST a professional fight. Maybe Tim Bradley is a badass? Give credit where it is due. People are continuining to say "Ha, Witter blew his shot at Hatton!" Come on guys, we both know that the fight wasn't going to happen - Witter never had a shot at The Mad Hatter no matter who or what he did in the ring. A loss shouldn't mean that anyways - look at the supposed Malignaggi/Hatton fight that is on the brink of the horizon - assuming both guys take care of business - did Paulie "blow his shot" by getting destroyed by Miguel Cotto? Bottom line: It's a good win for Bradley, a tough loss for Witter. But it's hardly the end of the world.
When you base your entire career, scratch that, your entire adult life, on the idea that you are better than somebody and they are ducking you and you lose to Tim ****ing Bradley, its pretty much time to start looking into how much your life insurance is good for.
One loss can change the course of your career - every fight matters. This is the way boxing is and is one of the reason's why I love it so much!
I'm not comparing their careers but the simple fact that Paulie Malignagi has beaten NOBODY of ANY importance - much like Witter OR Bradley yet Paulie is going to be rewarded against Hatton.
I feel sorry for WItter though, he did deservea big fight and no doubt Hatton has been ducking him like the plague. Bradely was overlooked and Witter paid the price for it, its a costly lesson but them's the breaks.
I know that he's ranked #1 - but you can't dispute the fact that the ranking is soft as hell and he still hasn't beaten anyone more impressive than Witter or Bradley, yet nobody is acting as though his career is over. But then again, I suppose when Hatton stomps him the talk will start.
"did Paulie "blow his shot" by getting destroyed by Miguel Cotto?" did paulie get destroyed by cotto? his face might have been busted up but from wht i remember paulie put up a good fight and seemed to come back into the fight in the last few rounds.
yeah malignaggi showed his toughness in his loss because he refused to go down and boxed effectively. And no one would argue that Timothy Bradley who isnt even in the top 10 at his weight is on the same level as Cotto. Witter rightly loses respect b/c he overlooked an opponent and got took. Hatton would absolutely CRUSH witter
Witter didn't just lose a fight, he lost a fight that never in a million years he should have lost. It was another boring as hell fight from from him as well. :tired
