If this were true, then Witter's career would have surpassed Hatton's years ago. Witter has always been happy to live in Ricky's shadow, calling him out, whilst looking bad against moderate oppposition.
It appears you suffer from memory loss and have convieniently forgotten the way Frank Warren shafted his career.
O course he would.Thats why he avoided him like the plague in his early career with FW. Bearing in mind Witter has a sound beard and has never been close to being stopped where did you pull this Hatton in 4 from?:rofl
Quality bout. Castillo will come to Witter and you got to be special to take the sort of power Witter can deliver. Witter is sloppy as **** though so don't be suprised if the more technically adept Castillo puts it on him for 12 rounds hard. Good fight. I'd like to see Castillo put it on Witter like a ***** but with Witter coming through to win a close decision - maybe a kd or two along the way. That way Castillo shows he still has something (in turn helping Hattons reputation) and the Witter increases his worth. Ultimately British boxing wins.
Then why didnt he fight him when he said he was penned in after the Vince Phillips bout? Why did he insist that he was written into his contract and then reneague on the fight? This crap about he doesnt deserve a ring with Hatton is absolute drivel. If he doesnt deserve a ring with Hatton then why was Hatton fighting guys like Dennie Pedersen and relics like Vince Phillips? No one is doubting his the bigger draw but his the bigger draw because FW marketted him very well. While Hatton was beating up guys like Tony Pep and Jason Rowland Witter in the meantime was thrown the wolves against then world champ Zab Judah.
Dodging, career shafting, thrown to the wolves, etc etc are all worthy topics for discussion, and I respect all of these opinions. However, when I look at the relative careers of Witter and Hatton, who they have faced and what they have achieved I come to the conclusion that this is the only thing that counts. The two biggest fights they have had sum up their careers for me. Hatton v Tzsyu, and Witter v Judah. Who they are fighting next is also a good indicator.
I dont think its because Ricky was scared of him.But the bottom line is Ricky promised us the biggest clash on British shores. He did this in the press on Sky and in the tabloids. He has repeatedly failed on this agreement. As for Witter freezing the argument is very poor lame and tired. That was Witters 19th bout as a pro.Warren didnt give a **** about him and dropped him not long after that fight turning his attention to his cash cow.In the meantime Ricky was still beating up cans to the tune of the WBU for half a mil figures at the M.E.N. To say he stunk out the joint is asinine. If they fought now we know who the winner would be.Witters pedigree is proven and he has a very solid claim as the best fighter at 140.He is also Rickys main threat at 140.Make the fight happen Ricky its that simple. There are no excuses.
In hindsight its very easy to say this. But dont ever forget that Witter was dropped by FW and wallowed in mediocrity as a wasted talent for some time.He was in the who needs him club because of his talent.Despite this he annexed all domestic titles and went on to become a "legit" worl champ.Considering his past and lack of leverage because of FW id say the kid done ****ing good for himself. For him to be in pole position for a bout with Ricky as he is now is even more exceptional. His done everything asked of him by Ricky.Including winning a world title.
Yeah thats why Judah couldnt KO him, why his NEVER been KO`ed let alone being close to being KO`ed, and when he was a novice he lauded Witters performance going on to say Witter would be a world champ.
No way would Hatton easily wreck Witter In 4. Witter's timing and counter punching would gave Hatton nightmares when he tries to dive In and hold Junior.
Wrong fight for Witter, he was criticising (sp) Hatton's win over Castillo saying how past it JLC was, and that his win over Harris was better. To fight him now would be a bit hypocritical, no? Witter should go after Malignaggi, Rees or Torres, unify belts and forget about Hatton.
Id like to see him vs Ree`s for the WBA.Nice easy fight plus he annexes another world title. If he could also beat Paulie for the IBF then he has a sound claim as the best man at 140.Then a fight with Wicky would be a must!
Yep, thats what i mean. Rather than just talking about fighting Ricky, go out there and do something to grab his attention and put pressure on Hatton to take the fight. I think he could beat any of the other 3 titlists, Malignaggi being the only real tough one.
