Uh, Ricky was the CHALLENGER in those fights.

And unfortunately, regardless of the fact that he has moved up in weight, Ricky is still recognized as being the 140 lb champ. So Witter would be the challenger in this fight.

Its not like he's not fighting. How is he wasting his time? He wants to be undisputed champion, so he wants to fight Hatton, its that simple.

I think this is one he CAN wait for. If Ricky announces he's fighting in Manchester against another Briton, then he officially IS ducking Witter, end of story. If Hatton is able to get a fight like DLH or some other huge American name that brings a lot of money, then Witter should go for Malgignaggi to try to force Hatton to fight him.

Remember Benn V Eubank? Now remembered as one of the best domestic matchups ever, right? Eubank wasn't given much of a chance before that fight and take it from me there was little or no support for Eubank at that fight.

Just because Hatton has a massive fanbase does not give him the right to avoid rightful challengers. The venue would be full, and I'd bet Witter would take a low purse for the fight too - hell he's stated that he'd fight Hatton for nothing, what more does Hatton need, Tito's hand-wraps?
