'Disrespect' is an excuse, if Hatton thought he could shut Witter up by beating him he would. Hatton's career is very calculated and in his time he and his management has turned down fights with Witter, Judah, Cotto, Harris, Mayweather (5+ times before it happened), Mitchell and Corley. Tyszu and Castillo were well past their primes - they were risks but very calculated.

Witter is simply a bad style match up for Hatton whos open to counters. Witter is 1 of the best coutner punchers in the sport and has massive power in his counters and would KO Hatton like Mayweather did, with a counter punch.

Hatton only takes risky fights if theres something massive to gain - ie massive purse & bigger paydays.

Hatton fights easy lower tier fighters for the rest of the time and doesn't make good fights. As a fan I find this unacceptable

Witter has wanted to fight Hatton since 2000 and Hatton simply didnt want to risk the fight making excuse after excuse

    Hatton's excuses:

'I will fight Witter when he has a world title' - he has the WBC title now Ricky, when are we going to see the fight?

'Witter isn't a big enough draw' - hes a bigger draw (because of the domestic and top2 status) than Urango, Maussa, Collazo and anyone he fought pre-Tyszu

'Warren won't allow the fight' - your not with Warren now and you choose your own fights

'He disrespected me so I won't fight him' - Mayweather disrespected Hatton worse and Hatton disrespected Mayweather plenty into the bargain. Hypocracy/Double Standards? YES

THE ONLY VALID EXCUSE - I MAY LOSE TO WITTER AND ITS NOT WORTH THE RISK OF THE END OF MY GRAVY BOAT

    Exactly

The way Witter goes on you would think Hatton is the only possible fight out there for him

I personally don't give a **** if Hatton's ducking, doesn't want to give him a payday or whatever, I'm just ****ing sick of Witter whining like a girl

he offered to fight Hatton for peanuts or for nothing...just to make the fight. He offered himself at very short notice on one occasion.
So what you say holds no water. Just like every other bull**** excuse you guys might offer up.
Witter was ****ed over by Warren and partially by Hatton in the past. He wants to get Hatton, it's personal. Hatton had avoided him for years.
if it doesn't happen it should be a massive black mark on Wicky.

That pretty much sums it up, Hatton doesn't mind getting owned for £20 million (can't say I blame him on that) but isn't doing it for less. I can't wait to see who his next opponent is.....

Don't put words in my mouth & try to portray me as a typical one eyed, keyboard warrior moron. You appear to have made the assumption I am a die hard Hatton fan. Hattons own people have said that he wont give Witter the pay day of his career as long as he disrepsects him in public.

Thats the problem with this site. Too many people with a tribal mentality. I am a boxing fan first. My personal opinion is that they should stop acting like idiots & fight each other. I would actually have preferred it if they had fought 5 years ago. It would have meant a lot more to me then.

So had Floyd refused to fight Hatton due to the trash talk, you would have thought it was acceptable? I'm not putting words in your mouth I just don't think the "I'm not fighting him because he's disrespected me" bull**** holds water, it just seems to be another excuse now he can't use the "he needs a title in order to fight me" doesn't wash any more.

This isn't a tribal thing, I gave Hatton his credit for taking the Mayweather fight and will always do so. The thing is I think he should have cleared up the domestic scene first, and yes he should have fought Witter 5 years ago....so why didn't he :think

Can you offer citation to some of this please & I don't just mean gossip from boxing forums?

and what about these Witter apologists?

Ok, so I'll buy into Hatton ducking him for a minute

Why the **** is Witter sitting at home, crying himself to sleep over this one fight? Why isn't he fighting Malignaggi to prove he is the best at 140? Why isn't he going over to America to make a name and earn some money?

Why isn't he moving up to 147?

People would have a lot more respect if he stopped boring us to death against nobodies, and actually made a real effort to get himself known. Love him or hate him, Hatton has done it. He's fought Tszyu, he's fought Castillo (shot or not) he's fought Mayweather. Witter sits at home with a chip on his shoulder

    Can't respect him

I agree with this. Witter should of got the Hatton fight years ago, no doubt. But instead of waiting to see what Hatton does, he should get the other title holders out of the way. The obvious choice is of course, Malignaggi. FORCE Hatton into a fight.

I would have had to have accepted it. He should have probably fought Witter first but bigger fights came along & who was honestly sitting there watching the Tszyu fight thinking "I wish he was fighting Witter"?

I dont think we'll ever know quite want went on there but I certainly dont think either of them is afraid of each other. I still think there is hope for the fight but it definitely wont be Hattons next fight.

What gets my goat most is that people are now saying Tszyu & Castillo were washed up but those same people were probably predicting they would take Hattons head off. I personally thought Tszyu would win.

convenient how you mention the Tszyu fight and ignore every single other one apart from Mayweather. Witter was not only calling out Wicky before those fights.....every time Hatton fought a lightweight, journeyman or shot old man Witter was calling him out.

TFFT - Hatton has played his part in keeping Witter in the shadows, Warren was the one who really ****ed him though. It's personal for Witter....he wants to thoroughly expose Hatton and that's why he's offered to fight for **** all. Witter has no gripe with Malignaggi etc. That's why he keeps calling Wicky out and who can blame him?

Boxing is about more than holding personal vendettas

If Witter wants to sit at home rueing the fact he can't get a fight against Hatton then more fool him. He's a very silly man

I wouldn't **** up my career, especially at Witter's age, waiting for Hatton. I'd be proactive, trying to get a fight with Malignaggi. Malignaggi would take that fight no problem, he can't buy one at the moment. That would conclusively prove he is the man at 140, since Hatton hasn't done much there in recent times

Then there would would be some cracking fights for him at 147, if he truely believes he's as good as he says
