Hatton does have a **** jab, but his style relies on being able to walk through people's punches, before getting to them and wearing them down. He makes no attempt to keep anybody off, as he always comes to have a fight. If he did develop a good jab, it would be to the detriment of his other skills, and would make him a lesser fighter. Ricky is also big on the entertainment factor, i.e. Klitschko Ibragimov was terrible because of all the jabbing etc, whilst fights with plenty of big punches, inside fighting etc are pleasing, GENERALLY. If all you can do is jab, stick to the amateur game.
One point I missed - the great sporting institution that is the BBC doesn't help either. If you watched too much BBC sport, you would think the following: Martin Offiah still plays for Wigan Henry Cooper and Frank Bruno are preparing for their third fights with Mohammad Ali and Mike Tyson Will Carling is still England captain And so on.
I mean he made himself alot more famous than he would be without Hatton, he's obviously a competant fighter. And the best 140 Uk (or anywhere) fighter is the one with the lineal championship and better record.
I wish Hatton would just sign to this fight, how many years has it been talked about FFS. I said Witter would beat Hatton years ago, my opinion hasn't changed.
That's moot if you won't fight your closest rivals. If you spend enough time arsing around at different weights and knocking over blown up old men and nonentities eventually you can no longer be worthy of the title of champion. Hatton's not far off that point for me.
