Did Witter have a rematch clause in his fight contract with Bradley? If not i think its the last we have seen of Witter at "world" level, he isnt even ranked in ANY of the top 10, of ANY of the 4 major belts
He will be ranked at the end of the month when they release there new rankings, whenever a champ looses the belt he automaticly gets taken out of the rankings until the new rankings come out. Witter will be in the top 10 all the belts, and probs in the top 2 for the WBC as he only lost by SD.
Witter has looked **** so many times, it's hard to tell how much he's got left after this last performance, which was no different to how he normally fights. If Colin Lynes has improved at all since their fight (which I believe has), then Witter would be ill advised to take a re-match.
Witter didnt mess up, father time finally caught up with him. Anyone who knows their boxing would have noticed how drained looking Witter was before this fight, He simply looked old before the fight. Then Junior went in, had no speed or snap in his punches, & was blowing after a few rounds, even though both men werent actually doing much. Then he got hit by a decent right hand & went down like a ton of bricks, now as we all know Witter always had an iron chin. It simply wasnt Junior Witter in there, it was an old Junior Witter. It had to happen sometime, that Witter would start to struggle as the years wore on. Now im not making excuses for Witter, I just believe his time has come & gone. Anyone who has watched him fight for years like I have could see that he was a shadow of the fighter he was even two years ago. Maybe a move up in weight would help, as making the weight has just gotten too much for him. I doubt it though, I just think I witnessed an old Witter whose speed, reflexes & durability are on the wane. I just hope he sees the danger signs & gets out before he takes any more losses to inferior fighters to him, like Bradley was.
A few things: Witter's always started blowing after a few rounds, he has terrible stamina. Has Witter ever been caught flush in the past to prove he has an iron chin? That has to be the best punch he's ever shipped. His speed/reflexes have definitely declined in the last 8 years, has this suddenly happened or is it just that has he just not been in with somebody as fast as Bradley since the Judah fight so it hasn't been exposed?
Sorry onourway my man, but I have to disagree with you. Witters never had terrible stamina IMO up until his last fight, hes been caught flush on many occasions & eaten the shots no bother, & IMO Bradley wasnt anywhere near as fast as Zab Judah, Witters lethargic performance just made Bradley look fast. Bradleys speed was but an optical illusion caused by Witters dramatic slowing down.
I can't agree with this. So many times in the past he has struggled to keep up for 12 rounds, his stamina has always been a weakness. He only beat Harris because he was in against somebody with even worse stamina. The way he huffed and puffed against Colin Lynes was really bad, the writing has been on the wall for years, he's just disguised it behind a terrible style.
:rofl :rofl That's just priceless. You spend half your time on here slagging Witter and now you imply he's such a defensive master that it's taken until his 40th fight to get tagged with a clean shot.
Witter should go up to Welterweight. He should get a decent ranking by the WBC and get in a madatory position.
Great point Fatty. :good Onourway obviously rates Witter as the greatest defensive boxer of all time.
:rofl :rofl :rofl He'd get bloody murdered up there. Of course he could pick up a good pay-day before he retires.
