Good finish, but Harris lacked substance at the top level. Have you been "researching" my old threads, Flint?
there is not much to reserach there claypole you dont seem to be a active thread starter maybe you should start a new thread soon
It was a decent win for Witter but honestly i still thought he looked awful and clumsy doing it. Having said that Harris was always borderline top 10 and never with the elite of the division like Tszyu,Cotto and Hatton.
Very good win for Witter. I like Witter and rated him pretty well when he was in his prime. At times he looked very dangerous and anyone not upto 100% usually ended up in a pretty bad way, shame he ****ed up before he got a crack at Hatton.
I always wondered why Harris was rated at #2 before getting KO'd by the very average Carlos Maussa. Witter looked good but shouldn't have taken 7 - Hatton would have been more ruthless and put him away in about 3, as Witter should have done. That said - I think the right hook/uppercut from Witter which he very rarely uses from the southpaw stance is a cracking punch. It amazes me that Harris was in line for a shot at Tim Bradley - instead of a Witter rematch. Strange.
This is deluded thinking. Nothing Witter would have done would have been good enough to fight Ricky Hatton. Hatton ducked the fight for years - by the time Witter lost to Timothy Bradley the Hatton V Witter fight was already overdue by years. It should have been a genuine British title fight while Hatton was WBU Champ. Then Hatton went onto to bigger things and said Witter brings nothing to the table. Then Witter wan the WBC belt - and that still werent good enough. Hatton would have fought Witter if he could have been paid the same kind of money as when he fought Mayweather. Hatton fans like GazOC will say Hatton did not need Witter - his career has been far more (fincially) successful. - who needs a danger man like Witter to spoil the gravy train and a possinlity of a humilating defeat - and with nothing much to gain in victory. But I agree with GazOC and understand this point of view. Hatton was making good money fighting people he beat easy - why risk it all for no greater reward fighting a awkward dangerman like Witter. Fair enough from a business like mind and career management sense. But the main reason why I dislike Hatton is his character - he never admitted that - the true reason - and instead has dragged out excuse after excuse throughout the years - and still saying the fight was a possibiltiy. Remeber all that nonense about Warren saying the "Witter fight was written into Hattons contract" The real reason is Hatton and Ray Hatton did not fancy the fight a dangerous fight against a disliked rival for no greater reward than for knocking out any old bum at a packed out Manchester stadium. The reason why they have never admitted it is because they are ****s who are full of PR spin and lack the senerity to admit the truth because they are more comfortable using false excuse than admitting the truth. At least Nigel Benn admitted that he wanted no part of Herol Graham - and he was a man who took pride in "never having ducked anyone". If Witter had knocked out Timothy Bradley in style - he would have put himself even further away from a fight with Hatton. Hatton / Witter was never going to happen. Nothing to do with Witter losing. Everything to do with the bull**** of the Hattons
I think the thing that grates with most people is that Witter 'brought nothing to the table'. Witter was probably (well certainly) a stylistic nightmare for Hatton, especially from the southpaw stance from which I believe he is most effective. I would point out that at the *** end of 03 and throughout 04, Witter brought more to the table than Hatton, who had a WBU 'title' as opposed to British, Commonwealth and European honours. Now I am a Hatton fan, but cannot be expected to believe that Pedersen, Vilches and a number of others brought more to the table than Witter. In fact, I would suggest that only the following actually did: Vince Phillips - clean at the time, former champ, good test Ben Tackie - hard as nails gatekeeper Michael Stewart - IBF title eliminator Certainly not the likes of John Bailey and Stephen Smith.
cant say anymore im in full agreement. Hatton should have took the fight with witter because although witter is an awkward fighter, he is also lacking somthing. He should of given the british public the fight they wanted and the 1 that i think hatton would win ( stoppage 10 ).
