Its a come back tune up fight that is why he is fighting Lazcano.

Yes a defeat by Witter would end his career right now how stupid of him not to gamble everything for so little to someone he cant stand. :patsch

He may have no chance in hell of winning but the guy wants to try and avenge his defeat to Floyd and fight some of the top names out there. Fighting and beating Witter wont get him any closer to that and he risks losing everything. Ricky Hatton has done more for British boxing over the last decade then anybody, give the guy a break. Its not like hes lining up a load of Tomato cans after the Lazcano fight.

I want to see Witter V Pauli, Torres, etc or some of the big names in Welter. Why isn't he fighting these guys, that is the question everyone should be asking. Rickys more then willing to get in the ring with them.

It hasnt happened because Hatton doesn't fancy his chances of winning. Hattons future marketability after a defeat to unknown Witter would hurt him too much

Hatton knew his stock would go up facing Mayweather even if he lost. Against Witter his stock and marketability go down when he loses

Hatton would make more money fighting Witter than Malignaggi or Lazcanno, but hes not going to lose against those 2, losing against Witter hurts his future earnings and is a beating he can avoid while still getting well paid

Your trying to make it sound as if Witter has only arrived on the scene. This isn't like Froch calling Calzaghe out. The 2 of them were domestic rivals that were operating at the same level several years back. The fight should already of happened!! Then Hatton wouldn't have to listen to any of the flak he's getting for not fighting Witter now.

Floyd gave Ricky a chance to try and prove he's the better man, despite seemingly hating each other, yet it's okay for Hatto to pawn off Witter? Double standards.

Personally Id rather see Witter make fights with Malignaggi, Tores etc or some of the names at Welter. I honestly have little interest on seeing Witter attempt a smash and grab on another British fight legends career.

If he brought more to the table, its a fight I would love to see, a real battle of Britain aka Benn/Eubank etc but at the moment he brings little. I also find his personality unappealing and his boxing matches pretty boring to watch.

I believe Hatton will fight Witter, but from Hattons perspective why does he have to now, that option will always be available to him even if he loses. Other options wont.

He tried to get the following into the ring, but they all have something else to do:

    Malignaggi (would rather face hatton)
Kotelnik - he already beat him (would rather face hatton)
DHOPs (agreed then turned the fight down)

They also tried to get fights with:

    Paul Williams
    Cintron
    Margarito
    Cotto
    Cintron

Not sure why they didnt get them but witter is just too much risk for too little reward

So all those guys are "ducking" Witter as well.

I still believe myself that Hatton and Witter will fight and that Hatton would stop him. But it'd be just nice to see them eventually get it on.

I honestly don't think Hatton is the kind of guy to let it go and I think he will fight him at some point. Its just going to be at a later date.

exactly- people calling out and talking **** aint new to this game hatton talked crap about mayweather and floyd gave him a **** but hatton doesnt want to give junior a fight for those reasons. A tad hypocritical me thinks.

I also read in this months issue of boxing monthly that hatton talked about unifying the titles but doesnt mention witter who holds the most highly regarded title a title that hatton has never held himself

People talk about Witters power but realistically since he has stepped up his comp his ko run has dried up. Plus Hatton was hit off a much harder puncher in Tszyu and he didnt go anywhere.

I think Hatton has very underated footwork and speed when cutting the ring down. If i was Hatton i would take the fight, because i think it will turn out to be a fairly easy nights work for the Hitman, i really do.

As to the fight happenening i dont think it will, is it a shame if it doesnt, i dont think it is as long as Hatton fights Malignaggi and maybe Mayweather again.

His KO rate dried up? His last two fights have been knockouts, I dont remember Torres knocking Morua out either, someone I bet you think has real hard power.

avoiding would be a better word, did i mention Witter was Mayweather mandatory and he fought Shamba instead and dumped the belt

No, it won't happen, Witter been calling him out since 2000, and Hattons fought some absolute dross since then
