dark horse is an understatement. If Khan wasn't with Roach i would pick Kotelnik and he'd possibly be the favorite. even now its hard to see how much improvement a trainer can do, but i guess we'll find out
Some "yanks" like to say british fighters are glorified club fighters, which is most of the time a ridiculous statement....well for that you will see junior witters picture.....
Indeed, he is a very slow starter but breaks people down, so expect to hear Shah Khan and the rest scream "YAY!!!" a lot in the first few rounds as Khan hits arms and gloves. And yes I am aware dark horse is two words.. atsch:bbb
Lots of posters and fight fans who watched Kotelnik vs Witter on English soil had the Ukranian ahead on points after 12 rounds. Kotelnik vs Mbaye,on English soil, was a nother fight the Ukranian would have won if it had taken place on neutral territory. I very much hope that the British based Pakistani fighter Khan wont win a controversial point decision in his backyard on English soil!!
i'm picking kotelnik on points, just because kahn is a moron when he talks to the press, i hope he loses.....but roach in his corner is a big factor, and i will admit i thought kahn had some improvements against barrera.
This is my first vid of kotelnik and I have to say that I like the guy Witter got OWNED in the last rounds especially 10th. Solid defense and great countering. The guy is in your face for 12 rounds im pretty sure Khan is gonna fight from a distance. Im sure Khanvas Khan will get the nod in Khan Land though if its close :verysad
Yeah, if he actually puts pressure on his opponent he rarely misses, sometimes he is too patient and mythodical for his own good, which I believe is one of the main reasons he was singled out for Khan. I don't know though, hes like the tortoise in the old fable, he keeps coming at you and if you slouch he will make you pay, also takes a great shot.
I thought Kotelnik at least deserved a draw vs. Witter, and you could make a point he has never been beat as a pro, at least not without debates. The Maidana fight was FOTY stuff, great battle, and I thought Kotelnik pulled it off. He's a polished, highly skilled, and fairly quick textbook counterpuncher, no major weaknesses, good chin and stamina, a lot of heart and decent power, so if connects clean, it's goodnight for Khan. It's a tough fight to pick though, Amir is awesomely fast, did a great job vs. Barrera unleashing combos then get back to defensive position and start over again, it's not easy to land a crisp counter shot. His defense was also very well. There are several unpredictable factors here, one is the style, Kotelnik has to adapt to Khan's speedy shots and high output, other is how Khan will look in his 140 debut. I'm expecting him to be stronger and take a punch a bit better, a few pounds of muscle on the legs and less dehydration can have very positive effects. On the other hand, he'll have to deal with LWW punches. I'm predicting Khan to win by decision or if he can keep up with overwhelming combos, maybe late stoppage. But I give about 40% chance for Kotelnik to win, the excellent Ukranian counter-puncher has the tools to hurt Khan, he's one tough dude with skills and heart, so anything can happen. That's why I think it's an excellent fight.
He's not a British based Pakistani. He's British of Pakistani descent. He was born and raised in Britain, has a Bolton accent and represented Britain at the Olympics. I see Kotelnik stopping Khan late on. Kotelnik isn't much of a puncher but his accuracy will break Khan down and Khan's chin is **** as it is.
