Well, I just saw the witter vs. harris fight on youtube. He looked good, winning all the rounds but one before knocking him out. Only negative is his defense, he keeps his hands a bit low. His promoter said they want Malignaggi for a unification bout, who wins?
I think Paulie is more of a boxer than Harris and I think Paulie has a hell of a chin...This is a toss up..But Paulie can box for 12 rounds easy and score...I think witter may get a knockdown but get out pointed...Paulie is a mover and a shaker....he does not come str8 forward so he wont get countered like witter was..Paulie has fast hands as well. He wont hurt witter at all but probably outpoint him in a split close fight.
I still get a laugh out of Paulie brawling with Cotto .. That was one serious beat down in a winable fight for him. As for Witter/Paulie it's a pretty even match .. kind of like at the end of Double Dragon when you fight for the girl! Depends where this fight happens .. Hometown decision wins this.
I really dont know that much about witter, other than he lost to Judah earlier in his career beat Corley to win the title. However, his 7th round destruction of Vivian Harris was impressive (or so I've heard). Harris is (maybe now was) a very good Jr. welterweight (former champion), who has beaten very good competition. Malignaggi's biggest win is over Ndou, which did win him a belt, but doesnt compare to Witter's two biggest victories over Corley and Harris. I'll take Witter for now.
I think Witter vs Malignaggi would be a really good fight and the winner should face Hatton to see who the best fighter at 140. I think if Witter and Malignaggi fought Paulie would outboxed him and win a close fight. I give Paulie the advantage because he been in with a big puncher with Cotto and he almost won the fight. Paulie got beaten up but he only lost 115-112 and 116-111. I think that fight he had with Cotto will help him beat Witter in a good fight.
Witter by stunning ko. It would be a great match up between the two best 140 guys and pretty even but after last night's destruction of Harris, Witter is looking seriously good and can find that punch to stop a guy where Paulie can not. Great fight though. Paulie is is exceptional but Witter edges it.
I think that the world is Paulie's oyster, boxing wise, and since his ballsy performance despite losing to Cotto, I'm a fan of his. I see Paulie as a lower weight Willie Pastrano, in that he's GREAT at the moving and jabbing, and not being stupid by fighting outside of his particular specialty to "prove himself". If he exploits his particular skills in each fight, he can just about beat anyone, including Ricky Hatton, Cotto in a rematch, and take to school and outclass the son of Julio Cesar Chavez. As for Witter, he'll take the decision if they meet, because he can do whatever Witter does, only better.
