Thompson was vastly overpaid in my book.

Why do you think that? I think the moneys about right maybe he could have got a little more. I thought Thompson lost heart late on in the fight and gave up I was disappointed by his performance in the fight but remember this fight could have been one of his last big paydays. He was undefeated for 8 years before this fight making a lot less money just to get this shot, he got there got the biggest payday of his life and gave it a shot.

If it was performance based Wlad wouldn't even get a million.

It was in his hometown ... he has two major championship straps ... and he's sold out that arena.

Say what you want, Wladimir Klitschko really loves Hamburg, it is his second home.

He even supports a lower league football club (FC St. Pauli), he could have chosen the much bigger and more successful HSV instead if it were just for publicity reasons.

I guess Wlad Klitschko is a good draw at the box office then?

I never knew that Wlad and Vitali had relocated to Germany. The arena last night was 12-14,000 and full. Realistically how much of a stadia could Wlad fill in Germany? 20k? 23k?

He could easily do that and more with
    a) lower ticket prices
    b) an opponent known to the German public such as Valuev

He already sold out the Kölnarena (20,000) several times. He could probably sell more tickets, though the ticket prices for his fights are usually very high, plus the undercards is often hardly noteworthy (which makes his ticket sales more impressive I guess). I don't think there is a considerably bigger indoor arena in Germany (I might be wrong about that?). For a fight like Klitschko-Valuev they might consider the Schalke-Arena, a 60,000 people soccer stadium with a roof.
