I think Wlad was sure the lead left hook would put Joshua out as it has others Wlad caught with it

Joshua must have been well-prepared for and very aware of that shot because he slipped it so many times, over and over again

 

He has never gone to the body. He should have been throwing the right hand instead of the left hook when Joshua was hurt. He had some rust and timing issues which was expected.

Since steward Wlad never goes to the body at all. You want to see him go to the body you have to go back to 02 or earlier

 

Wlad works the body like a young JC Chavez. He is probably the all-time legend of heavy weight body punching. I don't think anybody in the history of the heavyweight has landed more body punches any single fight than Wlad has in his 20 year professional career

 

The way joshua slipped the cross was cringeworthy, he was shouting "hit me with your right upper, please!!! hit me!!!". Had wladimir followed his left cross with his right upper, joshua would have been sleeping all night long.

I was thinking the same thing watching it. As wore out as Joshua was in that 7th round... digging in a good straight right to the body would have been more than effective! Especially considering Joshua would have been so worried of another 1-2 missile coming upstairs.

This makes no ****ing sense.. Joshua was protecting himself very well after going down, and was well aware of everything that was coming his way. He had a high guard and was weaving in between Wlads leaping left hooks and rights that were missing by inches. The reason Wlad didn't go to the body was because he's not an effective body puncher and hasn't been for years.. so what you just said is just wishful thinking.. another gem from Nobody todd. The uppercut ironically would have finished Joshua also.
