It's already been said he doesn't go to the body a lot but he still does here and there! The Mercer clip was just ONE example dumb dumb!

Yeah Wladimir Klitschko isn't capable of firing off any kind of body attack!! And there is NO WAY he could in the rematch after Joshua starts spitting out his mouthpiece again to buy time! Right Mr YDKSAB??

    Idiot

For a heavyweight that tall with cautious style. Throwing body punches or uppercut is a receipy for disaster

Yep! Good call I forgot about that one. Man he cracked Barret with some WICKED shots! I got a kick outta Big George's commenting in that fight too. Lol! "Punches like that slice your face like a razor!!" :D I wish George still was on the HBO crew.

I was really disappointed with WK's left hand, although I think it was a double bluff to a certain extent, I believe Joshua was very alert to the left hand and WK's loaded up more with his right hand, either way I think he could have used it far more and with better effect.

As for the bodywork, there wasn't any, I don't think WK felt comfortable enough to get himself in a position to throw any effect bodyshots, you have to give Joshua credit for that in a way for posing a threat and maybe not giving WK's the angles and time to even attempt any type of body assault.

@On The Money was spot on in an earlier post, the uppercut was the shot after round 6 that could have finished the fight, left or right, Joshua was tired, on the ropes, swinging in desperation at times and falling in and WK's kept firing shots over the top of Joshua, for a man with that much experience and talent I was actually shocked he didn't use it.

I said the same thing. The left hook hurt Joshua and stopped him in his tracks. He didn't mix up his arsenal or go to the body.

He dropped Barrett with a right uppercut in that one too. And that short left uppercut/hook shot from the clinch he used to throw back then.

Throwing to the body against Shufford followed by a picture perfect fast right hand shortly afterwards.

Lovely short left hook, not that telegraphed leaping in one of today

That's the Wlad I like. Beautiful punching technique, much better punch variety, thunderous power in either hand and he was very quick for a big man.

The best sequence in that fight is from 7:18-9:50 - in round one leading up to the KD. The jab and the left hook is superb. Again the left hook is thrown completely different to how he throws it today. It was so much better back then. I counted a couple of body shots in that sequence too.

Wlad main flaw was always his refusal to duck under a punch, preferring instead the amateurish move of backing up in a straight line.

If you duck under a punch, you leave your opponent off balance while being in perfect position to counter him AND you conserve your energy.

Backing up only works if the adversary has shorter reach and is older.

Against Joshua, Wlad looked like an amateur with this tactic. He got caught many times at the end of Joshua's long power punches while waisting all his energy getting in and out, safety first, leaving the battery empty by the tenth.

When Joshua went for the killing, Wlad kept trying to back away in a straight line, instead of standing and trying to counter him, which was really his only chance by that time.
