    Jesus fking christ!!!

Vitali is one of my favourite fighters but his RESUME is trash!!!

Evander's resume is far far better than his.

I wouldn't call it "trash" but it definitely doesn't do him justice, he's much better than it would suggest. 4 years off hurt it quite a bit, along with the fact that Lennox ran off into retirement instead of sticking around for what could have been an Epic trilogy that would have most certainly netted him a ton of cash. Vitali wanted it, the fans wanted it, but Lennox didn't want it :yep

Can u stop bringing up that fight?

It's so pointless. Everyone knows Lewis was already fading, and he beat Vitali. Ffs, let it go

Anyways, he has some decent wins but a lot of it is pretty mediocre.

He is far far better than his resume shows. His h2h ability is insane. :deal

No I won't stop bringing it up, that was one of best HW fights since the new millennium began.. It was close, and very competitive all out war. The fans wanted a rematch, boxing writers, Vitali, only Lennox didn't. Lennox passed up on what could have been one of greatest HW rivalries/trilogies of all time, I won't stop giving him flack for that as long as I'm a boxing fan. :huh

    1. It's such an overdebated topic

    This is what happened

They both took the fight on 10 days notice. Lewis was nowhere near 100%, he was undertrained, undermotivated, under the weather and beat Vitali even though Vitali was winning on the scorecards.

Vitali's career went on an upward spiral afterwards the fight even though he lost.

Lewis knew he had nothing left and therefore, he went into retirement. I do not agree with his antics of messing and holding the belt hostage but that's life.

Vitali did the same at the end of his career, let's not forget that. He held it hostage for a year + and at the end chose to retire without returning even though many wanted him to fight again.

Lewis retired at the right age. He was 37 and he was slipping fast. He also had no motivation to go on any longer. His net worth is around 140-150 million. What is another 20 million for a guy who will never spend it all anyways?

He did not want his legacy to be tarnished, did not want to show us a shadow of his former self again. You gotta respect that. He knew the risks were high and therefore, he rode off into the sunset.

Lewis had a full camp, Vitali was supposed to have a TUNE UP on the undercard. Big difference.

Lewis was not washed up, 37 isn't exactly old for a heavyweight. Wasn't overweight either like his fanboys like to claim, if anyone was unprepared it was Vitali as he was prepared for a tune-up, not a 12 rd title fight.

Vitali retired at 42, as opposed to 37... and it wasn't because he was getting old, or afraid of the competition.. It was because his political duties made it impossible for him to juggle a professional boxer career on the side, big difference.

In your own words you admit that Lennox was more or less afraid that he'd lose to Vitali in a rematch, he took the cowards way out.

    1. He bloated up, he did not come into this fight fully prepared, he just took the longest layoff in his entire career (367 days I believe, somewhere close)

Vitali was already fully prepared, he was training for Boswell at the time, he was fully conditioned, fully ready.

Politics did play a part of it, but can you fully explain to me why he decided to play the boxing world for fools for that long? He had more than a year but he was never stripped. Constant extentions, constant BS.

If he wanted to leave the sport, he should have done it instead of holding it hostage. Even the biggest nuthuggers have called Vitali out on this. However, I expect you to make his case somehow. :rofl

He's scared for his health, isn't every boxer? If you know you have nothing left and you know that the motivation isn't there anymore, it's normal to leave the sport.

Marciano did the same during training. He knew he didn't have the motivation to do it anymore. Therefore, he left.

    That's it.

He's not scared of Vitali or anything, even if Vitali wasn't looming in the HW scene, he still would have left imo.

Looked in shape to me, bloated is not the adjective I would use to describe his appearance... He was in shape.

Boswell is not Lewis i'm sure you'd agree, big difference preparing for someone like that and Lennox.... Lewis was the champ, had a full camp and Vitali was given no chance..... Instead Vitali took the fight to Lennox, and on short notice he was ahead on all 3 judges cards after 6 rounds, Not bad for a last minute replacement that was given no chance I must say. While the stoppage was legitimate, the fight was so competitive that many wanted a rematch, after Vitali made short work of Kirk Johnson this was the fight to make in the HW division... Everyone wanted it. Boxing fans, boxing writers, Vitali himself, everyone except for Lennox. The circumstances around his retirement lead to me thinking that Lennox retired to avoid losing to a guy that his number and tarnishing his legacy, not comparable to the way Vitali left the sport....

As far as Vitali sitting on the belt for too long, I would ask for you to take into consideration the situation in Vitalis country that was beginning to reach a boiling point, and instead of cooling down only escalated... I'm sure Vitali had hoped that things would cool down enough for him to return to boxing and fulfill his obligations as champion, but that didn't happen..... In the meantime, the top WBC guys who would have become Vitalis mandatory were taking forever to fight as it is, and their rematch for Vitalis now vacated WBC title took just as long! Not as if much was going on in the WBC's top contenders anyways......

Are you kidding about not bloated? He had far less muscle definition than in the past and it's not because of his age. He even said he partied day in and day out after he knocked Tyson out.

He was ahead on the scorecards yes, no one disputed this in any way shape or form. But Lewis won legitimately, fairly and it was not controversial. It wasn't like Paul Wallace was paid off.

IMO Lewis took that fight to see what he had left. And he got his answer.

It was a far far harder fight than he imagined but he also realized that his skill had deteriorated, his reflexes waning, his devotion to the sport also declining. What's the point of staying?

Yes the entire world wanted it, but what's the point if all we're going to see was a Lewis that was old, fat, unfit, unsuitable to fight, a shot fighter.

Just because the whole world WANTS something doesn't mean that something is going to be meaningful.

Lewis knew this and that's why he walked off into the sunset.

Please man, if he really wanted to attend to his political troubles, he should have left the sport. I don't care if he wanted to fight longer, he should not have the power to constantly hold the belt in hostage keeping it away from everyone just because Ukraine was facing troubles at that particular point in time.

Makes no sense. It was beyond a year, and rules state that if he doesn't defend it in that year, he should be stripped no matter the circumstances.

Wlad I would go back to Peters fight is #1, at the time wlad was a underdog, an peters was expected to win, an as we know, it did not go that way.

#2 would be Mcline, for the fact wlad boxed circles around the guy, had a round that mcline did not even land a punch. Wlad was not the underdog, but most thought Mcline would make it interesting an closer. I think this fight was HBO test for wlad, an wlad passed it. Needless to say he didn't think much of a part-time golfer in his next fight.

#3 Byrd 1st fight, wlad was 23 an dominated byrd every second of every round. An won his first title, The WBO.

    Vitali

#1 Hebie hide, gets vitali his first title, an he just destroyed herbie.

#2 Corrie sanders, could be number one, but I give it to hide. If you watch this fight, corrie was never down, an I will tell you I have never seen a boxer take the punishment he took that night, the ref stopped the fight, you can bet if sanders showed that same chin against Rahman, he would of never lost. I mean vitali hit him over 40 punches some rounds, corrie was covered in blood at the end.

#3 I say Peters, cause that was 4 year layoff, an peters was on the rise, an was coming back to more then likely a showdown with wlad, but in the end, the beating vitali gave him really finshed him off for his career. I think vitali really got meaner his second time around, he punished everybody like he punished sanders. He hit sanders with 230 punches, at least hundred of those were bombs....:bbb

    Wladimir: Byrd I/Povetkin/Byrd II

    Vitali: Sanders/Peter/...? Adamek/Hide

Wladimir's resume dwarfs over Vitali's, who gets more credit for how he fights and the couple wars he's been in as opposed to the warrant of his opposition, given his high rating.

A "bloated" Lennox Lewis who had a full training camp for Kirk Johnson.

He has a trim waist and visible seratus and abdominals muscle.

Lewis apologists use the excuse he was out shape to justify why Vitali was

    spanking him.

37 is not an old age for a big HW with Lewis' style.

Lewis comments in preparation for Johnson:

"I am in great shape. I have been doing a lot of maintenance work."
    "I am still young."
    "I age like fine wine".

Vitali was the one who was at a disadvantage being a late replacement, upgraded from a undercard warm up to an immediate title shot.

After an extremely fortunate Lewis snares victory from the jaws of defeat against the demonstratively better fighter Vitali, He says he will rematch him.

Lewis sat on the pine hoping Vitali would lose to Kirk Johnson.

After Vitali blitzkrieged Johnson in 2 rounds then Lenny started looking for a way out.

The boxing fans wanted it, the media wanted it, Vitali sure as hell wanted it. Lewis didn't want it.

There were many doubts and questions about Lewis because of the first fight,

instead of answering all the questions he sheepishly went into retirement because

he knew he lucked out and would not win a rematch.

    Vitali retired Lewis.
