Schulz beat foreman and botha in the opinion of most people. Foreman who got his face all bruised up and his left eye closed by the light punching german for the amount of shots he had to absorb, looked like a punching bag and all the 50 years of age that he really was, he flat out refused to fight him again.

Botha later got stripped off the belt for drug abuse in the schulz fight and in a symbolic gesture "handed" schulz back the belt he "morally deserved" years after the event, saying that he - schulz - was the true champ as he had actually beaten foreman and botha. But he got neither of these decisions.

The moorer loss was fair and square.
After the infamous botha decision in an unusal gesture for a german crowd, the people were booing the verdict vehemently and showering botha with plastic beer cups on his way back to the dressers in their disgust about the verdict, i think they didn't stage a world champ event in stuttgart again for some time.

I watched all of these fights and possibly more intently than you did at the time. No one expected klitschko to dismantle schulz the way he did, though he might have been favourite going in.
If you think barrett was a better win than schulz than so be it. this is a message board meant to exchange opinions and everyones entitled to theirs.

The schulz win was more meaningful, both for his career and his standing, he beat a man that in the eyes of most - except yours and your fathers, just kidding - had actually won 2 title bouts, whereas barrett was merely a young contender like many others. Schulz also had a huge standing on national scale in germany, mainfighter topping bills and filling arenas, whereas barrett was a nobody, schulz was sauerland promoted while Klitschko was kohl s guy which made this bout one of those rare high profile duels between the 2 leading boxing stables in germany. All the more ballyhoo around it and all the more significance for both stables.

No matter you think bothas gesture was hypocritical, he did it to honour schulz as true champ, which is noteworthy in itself , it was an act hardly heard of before.

eg Foreman's face being bruised up, eyes closed, i mentioned this to show case the impact of schulz punches despite the fact he was no hard puncher, its not a proof of anything, its like an evidence. the result of the accumulation of a lot of punches, if you remember schulz punching power, it wasnt great and his foes hardly ever looked that way but foreman was so immobile and slow he made schulz look like a young gazelle in contrast and he got hit at will

    Expectations before the fight:
Schulz was the underdog going in no doubt about it, but people didnt expect him to get annihilated in this fashion.

Intestingly this is what Maske said before the fight, well, he used to be schulz stablemate, to be fair:
