Huck arguably beat Povetkin in many people's eyes, so why exactly is he so bad? Sure, he's a cruiser. So what? Joe Louis routinely fought light heavyweights and former middleweights as title defences. Up until the early nineties cruiserweights were considered perfectly acceptable opponents for champions to defend against. Earnie Shavers, in many people's eyes the hardest puncher ever, was 210lbs, the same as Huck.

Huck might not be as big a puncher as Shavers, but he's no slouch in that department himself, and a harder puncher than many heavyweights at the moment. He's certainly more willing to let his hands go to get a knockout, and more than capable of doing damage to the champ if he lands.

Sure, he's not a great legacy building opponent, but are your choices really that much better? Let's see:

Helenius? A man who lost to Chisora who lost to another blown up cruiserweight by fifth round knockout. Who Wlad beat. Yeah, triangle theories and all that jazz, but... really?

Price? Decent, but very inexperienced at this level. Do you honestly expect Wlad to fight him, or for Price to want that fight at this point in time?

    Fury? Come on. Joke fight.

Solis? You serious? Solis is a fat joke with a terrible resume and terminal knee problems who lost his only other title fight bu first round TKO. How exactly is he so much better than Huck?

Lest you think I'm advocating Wlad fighting Huck, I'm not. But anyone criticising this fight due to Huck's size and crudity of technique really need to apply those same criticisms to past era's champs and their less-than-defensible defences.

Wlad should get more grief for fighting Wach then he should get for fighting Huck. At least Huck has proven himself at the top level. He deserved to get a draw against Povetkin.

I really don't get the hate for this fight at all, even the staunch Wlad haters should love this fight. To beat Wlad the main things that are needed is a strong chin, genuine KO power and the willingness to take punishment so to be able to land your shots. Huck has all of those attributes in spades. One things for sure, no way does Wlad survive by taking anywhere near the punishment Povetkin took against Huck.

:thumbsupGood post. Hard to dislike Huck....that is unless your a Ledbedev fan.:D

But seriously.....I dislike Hucks waiting until the 4th rd to throw a punch. He essentially gives away rounds lackadaisically as if he aint worried about losing.
He COST ME 12K vcash vs Ola with the BS draw they gave Olafabi.

But I wont bet big on a single fighter to win again b/c of that fight. Not that I got squat to bet with anyways.:blood

At least Huck wants the fight. The guys most people mention are in no hurry to fight Wlad and none have the experience of Huck. It is really not a bad option.

It has also been my experience that Team Klitschko routinely plans ahead for potential fights. During the British feed of Wlad/Thompson II, it was revealed that Wlad already had a November 10th date set aside for his next fight.

This rumor seems perfectly plausable and quite frankily acceptable to me. Wlad cannot make other boxers fight him.

    What does it matter.

He destroys anyone out there right now.

He may as well make some money doing it.

If Povetkin won't fight him, why not fight the guy that beat him.
