Over-emotional in a nutshell. Keyboard warriors wouldn't dare call Haye that to his face. Are you a keyboard warrior, Rob? It's poor to show so little respect to any man who steps in the ring.

When people start calling fighters "duckers" and "bitches", I just think they have some idealised view of a sport that's been corrupt since the day it was created, where people get brain-damage in return for "entertaining" the masses. It's a short, dangerous career where you often start with little and end up with less. Haye's a smart guy for putting his family before a bunch of cry-babies on the internet who don't pay his wages anymore. He's mainstream now. So maybe a little perspective:

the world hasn't stopped turning, there will be other fights, whatever the excuses and the reasons the fight isn't being made right now. Stamping your feet and crying that Haye's not what you thought he would be (though he's always been a tough negotiator when he's had the upper hand) achieves nothing.

But I'll also put it this way - the brothers NEED Haye more than he needs them now. No one gives a **** about them cause they make for boring fights. I know who I'd choose every time.

I don't GIVE A **** who is the 'World champ' how many times do I have to say this mate?

I am more about seeing who emerges as the dominant fighter in a division. In an era of one World champ you'd figure the most dominant would he the champ, he'd have to fight the best. I consider the four ABC champs (unless there is a shocking title holder, often there is) as th top 4 in the division. For example, I currently thnk Bradley is the man at 140. Alexander has, by way if oposition faced, done enough to warrant a fght with Bradley in a lot of fans eyes or a shot at the 'champ', or at least a chance to establish themselves as the best in the division.

So no, I'm more excited about the opponents Booth/Munroe will be going in against. If either one then went on to beat Poonsewat, and then faced or beat one another (or Poonsewat beats them, more likely) I would then rate them highly. This is how we will be able to judge these fighters objectively 20 years down the line. Saying he was a 'two weight title holder' will mean little.

So what I care more about anything is quality of opposition. If Haye doesn't fight Wlad it will harm his legacy, and will reflect the amount of respect he gets for his career.

He obviously happy to live with that. Cool, he's made his money, doesn't care what I think.

I don't see him as a Heavyweight 'champ' but a small(ish) Heavy who beats a couple of fighters who would never have been more than contenders in another era (Mormeck, Mac) and then beat a couple of top ten bigger guys (Valuev, Ruiz)

As it stands, I wouldn't rate him anywhere near as proven a Heavy then say, Ray Mercer, and certainly not Rahman. There are slim few fights for Haye to improve his standing, I won't lose any sleep over the Klitschko fights not happening. A shame, yes, a big one.

But as I said before, sand in the ocean.

in my head i agree with you but haye vs kltiscko plus mayweather vs pacquiao combined was a major blow to my feelings on the sport. since they fell apart i just look down on everything. maybe i am being overly critical but actually i think i may just be seeing the truth.

i really do not think that was a good undercard this weekend. its the minimum we should expect. boxing fans have just been ****ed in the ass so many times, anything remotely decent or ok is lauded upon. when i saw the name of the RBR on the Brit forum i just shook my head.

Yes, you are seeing 'the truth'. Either it Puts you off the sport or you soldier on.

hatton vs lazcano did poor ppv numbers. it was the manchester masses paying tribute to hatton, he had earned that occasion by fighting the number 1 p4p fighter in the world away from home.

haye vs ruiz was always going the be entertaining. haye bashing someone up for 6+ rounds that could take a big shot. i was always excited about it.

haye vs valuev has the intrege. how can someone thats shown no real tactics in 22 fights beat a 7ft2 fighter with a 100lbs weight advantage.

I'm doing fine on the old comprehension pal but thanks for your suggestion all the same. I did not say that Haye was using it as an excuse, show me where I said that. I was replying to a poster who said that the Klits are too big, this implied that said poster was holding it up as an excuse for Haye not fighting them. I pointed out that it is no excuse. Now if I said, "Haye shouldn't be using Klits size advantage as an excuse for not fighting them", you may have a point, but as I didn't say that, you don't. :thumbsup

I remember when Cotto got battered by Margarito. I took a couple of weeks away from watching the sport. Seeing a man, and a man I admire in a lot of ways, being beaten half to death was horrifying. You realise the stakes.

If Haye decides he wants to finish his career out fighting nobodies, that's up to him. He might look at the risk/reward and see himself taking a beating from Wlad. He might have decided to cash out. If it's against an Adamek, then I'll gladly watch. If it's against an Arreola, I'll gladly watch. If it's against a Harrison I won't.

That's how I'll voice my displeasure, not by railing on a forum no one gives a **** about.

See, you're not hard to please Rob. Why are you always so moany?

Condoning the Hatton-Lazcano fight is going against other things you've maintained in this thread. Also, being a Floyd fan goes against all of this Haye hate. The man has done what Haye has done in pretty much his entire career, his opposition is weak considering how highly most rate him, yet you never give him any flak.

like ive said before, i couldnt give a **** about what haye earns or whether he is looking out for his family. i also know plenty about the "family man" david haye thats looking out for his familys future.........driving about in bentleys in a different nightclub every night. it doesn't wash with me.

haye sold himself on being the risk taker, in it for the glory. im the mug that fell for it but i have every fight to moan about it and be pissed of because i had flight booked june 20th, i had tickets to barrett, fragomeni. there will be other fights but the two we really want are not happening.

You're re-writing history to suit. Hatton-Lascano got a live gate of 50,000 despite getting slagged off to hell and back on ESB and other boxing forums. John Ruiz is generally considered to be one of the most boring HW champs in history by a lot of boxing fans.

Bottom line is both fights made a lot of money and they didn't need the approval of "real" boxing fans to do it.

Ricky Hatton earned himself an easy fight. He was coming off a lost to the best fighter in the world, away from home where he gave his all in a fight he truly believed he would win and was gutted to lose. Ive given hatton allot of hassle over the years but really he wasa true warrior, prepared to fight the best. remember he gave up 2% of the purse to pacquiao even though Sky PPV money was as much as HBO's.

If David Haye goes to germany and wins, or loses, he will have earned the right to a gimmee fight (he already had one with Ruiz). Until then, anyone trying to tell me its ok for him to earn some money to support his family, it doesnt wash with me.

I still considered Pac no.1 at that stage, but I get your point.
