Wlad calls out Haye on Sky Sports new "I truly believe he is scared"

Whats to accept or not accept? The sport is what it is. Complaining away on a boxing forum like a lied to jilted girlfriend to absolutely no end result does not make you any more a genuine fan than those of us ho have seen it all before and take a more pragmatic attitude to the whole situation.

I'm really sorry David lied to all you guys and you fell for it but man up, learn from it and move on.

 

He fought that big tree Valuev didnt he? He only beat him because he is so slow and technically poor. The Klits are massive and technically good. It is the size and weight disparity in the heavyweight division that has created champions like Valuev, for example. It wouldnt happen in any other division - hence I would like to see a Super heavyweight division in the pros like there is in the amateur ranks.

Haye fighting Klits isnt going to restore some kind of nobility to the heavyweight division - as I said it is a ****in joke. At least there are interesting fights out there to be made for Haye i.e. like Adamek or even Del boy if he beats Sexton.

As for the best fighting the best - you could complain about that in virtually every weight division, but as I have said before the heavyweight division is the only one were your opponent can benefit from huge size and weight disparities. That is part of the reason why I ,in this isolated instance, am not screaming about ducking and diving. Good luck to Haye.

 

I didn't imply he couldn't win because of size, Gasman did, which is why I quoted him.

 

Correct - I think both Klits would beat Haye because they are technically sound and too big. Not just because they are too big.

 

The last thing boxing needs is more divisions and as achillesthegreat pointed out smaller men than Haye have beaten Wlad. The Klitschkos size advantage is no excuse for Haye not fighting them, they haven't got any bigger since Haye started calling them out 2 years ago.

To me it's fairly clear that Haye didn't realise how much fame he'd get by winning one of the HW alphabets. Personally, I think he's happy to sit on the title of 'HW Champ' for a while now that he has it. Perhaps he's even worried about losing the fame and recognition he has for picking up that belt. Who knows? Right or wrong, it is what it is. I don't care anymore. There are great fights that are actually happening elsewhere that have my attention for now.

 

This, and accepting that titles mean 0, zilch, nada, nuttin, piffle, diddly squat etc etc makes boxing far less disappointing I find.

It's like losing the woman of your dreams. Sure it hurts, at first, for a while, but then that pain subsides and you get another bird. It's not the same no, but it's something.

We still have the old greats we can revisit, and boxing is still the art form we know and love. It's just that marketing was arguably the biggest artform of the last century, and sadly, our sport is now packaged and manafactured differently.

Has gone the way music has. It deceives to make big money, and doesn't care about the quality of output as much. Sure, good albums still crop up (albums being fights) but there's a whole lot less depth, because a safety first approach GUARANTEES revenue, whereas an educated risk (a tough fight, or edgier band) might not, or at least, it may hamper future revenue.

It's sad, but just as I listen to hardly anything post-1980, I can still watch, Hell, literally countless fighters and enjoy myself immensely, and the sport as it is today still intrigues, and at times astounds (I have seen a top 40 fighter blossom in my lifetime) and is still worthy of the countless time I spend on here, staying up til **** knows what time in the morning, crying genuine tears when a favourite of mine has been smashed (very rare, but it happened fairly recently) and tears of joy when a favourite of mine escaped unscathed.

Yup, I think the goalposts have moved for Haye since he left Cruiser and won a HW title. He's now on £3-£4 mill (or whatever) a fight and wants to to cash in. I think he genuinely thought he was the best Cruiswerweight in the world and wanted to prove it, I don't think he's sure he's the best Heavyweight and wants to earn all he can while he has the chance.

Noble? No. But there we are.....

 

Has Haye actually ever said this and used it as an excuse?, there are few enough words coming out of Haye at the moment without anyone trying to put other peoples in his mouth.

 

The sport is not what it is. Due to pressure from MMA we saw a resurgence. Pressure from fans can bring about change and has in the past. Ultimately we pay their wages, just putting up with it is moronic.

 

The people who are happy to accept Haye making money for doing nothing make me laugh. I bet they can't wait to fork out £14.95 on Haye vs Harrison. If enough fans speak out then Booth and Haye will know that any other fight made will not receive a good reception. I think this has already been the case as the Haye vs Harrison fight seems to have died down after people got so pissed at Harrison being mentioned in the same sentence as a world champion.

I think he still wants to, but he's got a history of hand problems and back problems. His inactivity bothers me, but there we go. For whatever reason he doesn't want to talk about negotiations, but he's been in light training it seems and talking with trainers. Roach has spent time with the brothers, funnily enough.

I think we need to see who he fights. If he wants to make some money from his title, I don't care as long as he fights the brothers or someone good eventually. And, let's not forget - the brothers make for seriously boring fights. The Ruiz fight was probably more entertaining than anything the brothers have managed in years.

The ONLY power people have is if they don't buy it. Haye-Harrison would have sold on the gate and on PPV. The only reason it DIDN'T happen is because of Haye not wanting it.

 

They don't care. Even if you could find say, 10,000 hardcore fans to sign a petition, it wouldn't make a dent.
