he needs a new corner. Steward was such a great trainer for him, because he would bring the fire out of him when he needed to. Wlad has been more or less his own boss, and as a result, he became too comfortable. Banks is a nice guy, but not necessarily a great motivator. Plus, I'm not sure that Wlad respects him the way he needs to respect his trainer. Steward would have hollered at Wlad the other night, and maybe we would have seen a different fight.
Steward never got the fire out of him, much to his anger. At times times Steward would enraged tell Wlad to early let his hands go (=take chances) and finish of his guy. But often without end-result. Steward would have said almost the same things as banks said during the fight: - you need to go to the body - you need to fight inside - you're behind and need a knockout - you need to dog fight But we all saw the end result. You can't add a killer-instinct to a scared boxer. Even if your name was Steward.
I agree that Wlad is not and never has been a blood and guts warrior or shown a huge heart. That said, he respected Steward. I'm not sure that is true of Banks. So yes, they may have said the same things, but it wouldn't have registered the same.
Respect for sure,...but after many attempts Steward was never able to trigger him in activeness/aggressiveness (even when shouting at him). So it wouldn't have worked yesterday aswell.
Steward would have beaten him up. Banks was horrible, he failed Wlad as much as Wlad failed himself. And Wlad failed to remember one of the most basic things in boxing: if you cant touch the head, YOU GO TO THE BODY!
Because all he knows is....if you can't touch the head, grab it, put it in a headlock and lean down on it and waste the clock.
