Are you a total idiot? Wlad snaps his opponents' heads with that jab. My god... where do these idiots come from?
While I agree that Haye would not have won, I have to wonder if Wlad would have showed up just to throw nothing but jab, jab, jab, paw with the jab, hard jab, push a punch away, jab,.....a right hand, jab, jab......jab. Then he gets Ruslan on the ropes and throws nothing but one two's, many of which were hitting gloves. He needs to learn how to throw some uppercuts and body shots in his fights. He'd get a lot of early KO's. The fight was taken out of Ruslan after the first round. That was a Goliath in there with a little man and the Goliath looked afraid to impose his will. Good form for Wladimir, but I don't like how he leaves out so much in his game. His critics/haters just have more ammunition now.
Uppercuts... definitely yes, but he's too tall for body shots, especially against much shorter opponents.
Is it really Wlad's fault that guys can't do **** against him. He is DOMINATING guys like we haven't seen in YEARS in the division. He isn't getting hit... at all. Total, complete, domination. He's doing it with skill, an amazing jab and a straight rocket right hand. I know it's not for everyone, but his fights are fun to watch.. especially knowing his chin is so damned suspect you never think it's complete in the bag, and you can tell he knows that too. Haye would have been destroyed tonight, that first straight right Wlad landed would have been game over Haye.
Yeah, he dominates guys completely... which is part of the problem. Obviously, a strong boxer like Wlad dominating so complete will be boring when compared to a slugger like a Tyson just blowing guys out. Also, we all know Wlad could KO these losers, so when he fails to show any interest in doing so, it is frustrating.
You're a great poster Arriba, one of the best remaining in the post-golden age (how I miss the halcyon days of brooklyn, kg, Guru, Amsterdam, even the foils like Requiem and PacD), but I have two major bones to pick here; one per paragraph: Haye has had one significant fight at the weight...all the trash talking in the world doesn't make him more relevant (or deserving) than even a largely inactive Chagaev. You got your money's worth already today out of ESPNC out of Holyfield-Qawi. And given what he had to work with, I have little problem with Wlad's performance. I'm a little unclear as to whether your complaint is with the quality of the match-up as replacement (which you'd need to take up with the promotional team, not the fighter...and how many superior replacement options were floating around? :think) or with Wlad's actual performance (which I liken to making lemonade out of lemons...it didn't exactly outshine Diaconu-Pascal as FOTWE but who knew two rounds in the question would be "how long can Chag survive?"? Everyone and their mother had picked Wlad by wide UD. This was a slightly-more-aggressive and slightly sharper than average Wladimir and he absolutely chiseled through an overmatched little Colossus and broke him. I have to assume that your complaint is instead with the match-up; though the wording makes it sound like your problem is with his game tonight since you called Thompson a "good" fight in contrast...certainly Thompson wasn't a much more compelling opponent...)
And that would've been superbly entertaining. More entertaining than his Mikkel Kessler impersonation against Ruslan Chagaev, a good HW plagued by ineffectiveness, injuries and a plague of other problems.
