Yep. The fact is, Wlad could impose his will in the fights he's had and get these guys out of there a LOT more impressively. Can't blame the fans for wanting an exciting champion.

Hey, I liked the Kessler impersonation!  I'm just a sucker for brutally pistonlike textbook onetwos.

You're right, Haye getting smushed would'e been way more fun. But so would've Arreola or Rossy or any other vulnerable hypejob. I just don't see how David's paid his dues, when he only kinda sorta cleaned out his own division before bailing to chase the cash-out.

I don't disagree, but it was Haye who pulled out.

Now if Haye can win a fight or two, the fight will be even bigger.

You've got a legit #1 Ring belt holder now.

If you want to argue credentials? You may be right. Chagaev has a laundry list of victories more important than Haye at HW...but then again so did guys like Rahman, Thompson and the ilk. It's not the record that counts in this HW division, it's not even the quality of opposition anymore. It's the level of excitement you can bring to a division that really needs some excitement.

David Haye with one major fight only at the HW division, managed to scuttle himself into a big time prize HW title fight. That's pretty ****ing impressive when you think about it. There was a big buzz to the fight and personally? Haye vs Wlad and it's potential alone was worth more than this.

I don't have a problem with what Wlad did. It was a good performance by him...but my issue is very simple. When he has a fight that's dull and uninteresting (as this one was), The fans start up calling out the "boxing card" on people. It's stupid. Very very stupid. Instead of accepting the different appeals of boxing, it becomes a "yer not a fan because this didn't leave you aroused like it did me" argument. I hate that. It's such an elitist bull**** view that leaves me shaking my head.

It was a good Wlad performance against an inactive and injury plagued opponent with little drama or high points to the fight.

That's how Wladimir fights and always did, if it works and he's dominating guys easily then what's the problem?, why does he NEED to use other stuff when what he is using now is working fine?

Also you're underestimating his left hooks, that left hook can be thrown and when it lands it's good enough to drop or KO guys out there but if he doesn't NEED to throw it then he doesn't need to, he knows what weapon to use and it all depends on his opponent to force him to.

Haye might have been slightly more successful with his attacks being FASTER but we know about Haye's stamina and ability to take a punch, can you seriously tell me that he would be successful against the Wladimir we saw tonight?, I don't think so. The shape he came in tonight proves what he had in store for Haye and he's fighting an undefeated southpaw on 2 weeks notice who is a former champion that never lost his belt. He was here to hurt Haye brutally.

Yep, Haye is a big noise in Heavy...a squeeeeeeeking wheel.

I mention reach to many of you...and it goes over your head....why the hell do you think Ali won, in his day he was a very tall fighter with extreamly long arms...82 inches....
He too could get away with the lean back, that by him was "so elegant" and by Either Kiltchko, robotic and awkward...same move...

I read in Ring Mag....big write ups on the Tapia and Berria fight to come, a long time ago....And not a single word about reach...Berria had 6 inches of reach and beat the crap out of Tapia with no problem.

Wlad was very mobile tonight, and well balanced....his job is to win fights, not knock a guy out in 4 rounds....or be knocked out in 4 rounds.

"Wladmir will win via a late stoppage tonight. Easiest money I will win in hours."

    Oh what a poor fight.

I only won £140 It was easy money but I only won £140.

Next win is Kotelnik. He's going to get schooled. The Don will win again, as always.

It won't be £140 though. I might have bottled it with the Wlad Chag fight.

With Khan I will smilling at the conclusion!

it is questionable whether or not his ring title is "legit" simply because his bro is no "2"

Im a wlad hater to the core and he bores the hell outta me since steward, however he has wiped out the contenders fro ages I never agree with a ring 1 v 3 but they family and wont fite and wlad had bashed up so many now

thompsonm rahman , chag iggy peter couldve been thrashed in fashion IF he went for it

100% agree. It was good - not orgasmic technical ecstasy, but solid good (and I maintain, slightly better than average for Wlad, but then as we've established my Kessler-love may be tinting my vision here ) and while I agree that Chag being ranked 3rd best in the world is misleading (although, given the lanscape, sadly may not be factually too far off) and grossly outclassed on paper, Wlad was just as dominant as he ought to have been if not more. The only thing he could have done to be more impressive would be square up and go for the kill a few rounds earlier with some lengthier power combos than are his wont when the armor started to ***** - which of course would have given Steward a likely lethal stroke and that just wouldn't be very nice.

Saying someone who didn't enjoy this isn't a fan is elitist bull**** - but to say that it wasn't among Wlad's more masterful (agonizingly, methodically masterful but masterful nonetheless) destructions is equally so. Diaconu-Pascal was not only a better fight, it was a better overall display of the sweet science (as it was two top-notch guys, in each other's league, displaying as much impeccable offensive technique - and a little defense - as they did heart and killer instinct.) This paled in comparison as a boxing match and as a scrap. It wasn't a "must-skip" or a waste of time though, as some have intimated. For those who like watching Wlad, it was good, typical (maybe a tad better than typical, as I've said, in context) stuff. For those who don't, that's fine - not your cup of tea, doesn't mean you're "not a true boxing fan" - just means you should know better than to watch a snoozer-on-paper and ***** when it turns out to be - lo and behold - a snoozer. :yep

He really could've added an uppercut to the assault. One uppercut ends this fight 3-4 rounds earlier.

He looked muchbetter on his feet though and that's nice.

I'm not going to slight Wlad. It was a good performance.

Not only that but I'm also being unfair to him by not saying that Chagaev wasn't his first choice. He certainly wanted a fight with Haye and unfortunately things fell apart. Not his fault and I don't mean to blame him for it at all.

That said this whole 'He put on a clinic, like it or give up on the sport" non sense is getting to the point where it's way too grating. I can like a "technical" fight ( I liked Dawson-Tarver II and Ward-Miranda for christs sake) and still like a brawl...but I can also voice displeasure if either one doesn't fit the bill of being entertaining.
