You should write Wlad a letter (maybe with some little stick figure diagrams); the uppercut may literally not even be in his frame of reference. :yep
If that KD combo didn't happen to be my favorite type of offensive weapon (when executed correctly by the right type of fighter), I'd probably not be very satisfied with this particular clinic either.
Did Chag throw any uppercuts? They were his only option for the entire fight. Yeah he probably would been flattened while attempting on but still...
By the time he walked to his corner, grabbed the stool, placed it in the middle of the ring, climbed up, squared up, and threw it, I'm pretty sure Wlad would've had time to start to react.
****** does that get edited? Let's see. ..on the other hand, who just watched Bramble v Mancini that was being replayed. **** that was a great fight... that's how you fight with cuts, that's how you finish a fight. Damn.
I already know about Wladimir's left hook, my friend. I've always cited that shot as being as good or better than his straight right as a KO punch. The point is, he's fighting these little guys who have no business in the ring with him and he's looking afraid of imposing himself/closing the show. It would help his rep if he went out and made a statement in these fights more often. But hey, the guy has no one who can challenge him in the division, he's rich, and he's a good boxer. So he's done really well for himself. Btw, I never once mentioned David Haye. I'm not a fanboy of either Wlad or Haye. I'm just a devoted fan of boxing that calls it how he sees it. I always said that unless Haye fights the fight of his life, he has no chance against Wlad. But that fight could be more entertaining depending on whether Haye can make it competitive or not. Wlad could have gotten Chagaev out of there way earlier and that has been true for too many of his opponents. Many of us knew how the Wlad-Chagaev matchup would play out. It sucks to be right in this case. Wlad vs: Tony "Tiger' Thompson A shot "Has been" Rahman Sultan Ibragimov A one-eyed Lamon Brewster All that running and holding against Peter "White Tyson" These "world beaters" were all involved in fight with Wlad where he showed a questionable desire to impose his will. He can only blame himself for that. But he looks good when he takes on Eliseo Castillo's and Chris Byrd's of the world. The guy just doesn't display that special ingredient that he needs to get the respect he should have from the masses. It has nothing to do with his personality, his race, or his lack of ability. It's intestinal. Vitali has that special something that can't be denied. Wlad needs to get it.
twopiece, Wlad isn't going to ever be like Vitali. If it hasn't happened by this point in his career why would anyone in their right mind think he's still at some point going to turn over that leaf? He is what he is. Time to accept. If you want to write him off as someone who was never vicious enough to fit your personal standard of heavyweight champ material, okay - do so. But all this "Come on Wlad, unleash the beast!! What are you waiting for??" BS is ludicrous. Manny doesn't have a secret stash of Senzu beans he's waiting to feed him to make him go Super Saiyan in a big fight. There's no "secret word" that's going to unlock a savage alter-ego suppressed through hypnosis. He's just Wlad. There's pre-Steward Wlad and post-Steward Wlad, and a third configuration is not in the cards. He will continue to be just post-Steward Wlad until he retires.
Here's what I saw this afternoon: Wlad being incredibly sharp and throwing great 1-2's, hunting and being aggressive and confident, but NOT SEALING THE ****ING DEAL. Is it so much to ask that he maul his opponent? Why make it last longer when Chagaev is suffering for no good reason? Just finish the ****er next time.
Superb 1-2s...story of the night, as far as I'm concerned (not that there was too much else to write home about). :nod
He doesn't NEED to, he just SHOULD. For the fans, for his legacy and to scare his future opponents. He'd be a lot more intimidating and exciting if he mixed it up more. Sure, he dominates as it is, but we know from his first career that he can mix his punches up and throw great combinations. Why not return to that sometimes? He had little to lose against Ruslan, who was pretty helpless after the first couple rounds. He could have ended it inside 4.
